ALAMOSA, Colo. (January 17, 2014)—The Adams State University Grizzlies women's basketball team lost this evening on the road in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) meeting against the Regis University Rangers by a 76-53 score. With this evening's loss, Adams record now stands at 2-13 and fall to 2-9 in the RMAC. Adams has now lost two straight games. The Rangers improve their record to 9-5 and 5-5 in conference showdowns and have now won their last two games at home.
Emilie Klint and Desiree Anderson led the Grizzlies on the offensive side of the ball, each scoring 13 points respectively. Anderson shot 5-13 from the field and was 3-8 from beyond the three-point line. She also collected 3 total rebounds. Klint shot 3-8 from the field and shot 7-8 from the charity stripe. Klint also contributed on the glass by grabbing four total rebounds. The Grizzlies were unable to find an answer to the play of guard Baylee Purdy who scored 14 points of 5-13 shooting from the field and shooting 3-9 from beyond the three-point line. Kaelyn Johnson and Caresse Williams collected 13 and 11 points each.
The Grizzlies never tied nor led in this matchup against the Rangers. Regis led Adams 36-27 at half time. ASU was able to pull within two early in the beginning stages of the second half, however Regis responded on a run of there own and led by as many 20 points to finish the game. Regis scored 28 points in the paint compared to the Adams 14. A deep bench was on display against for Regis as they contributed 32 of the 76 points they scored. The Grizzly bench on the contrary contributed 15 points. For the game, the Grizzlies at a 28.1% rate (18-64) while the Rangers shot at 43.1% (25-58).
Adams State will now prepare for the likes of Colorado School of Mines (Jan. 23) and Colorado Christian University (Jan. 24). Both games will be played at home are slated for 5:30 tipoffs.
