CHADRON, Neb. (January 3, 2015) – Desiree Anderson led Adams State University with 15 points but the senior's efforts were not enough as the Grizzlies were defeated 70-56 in a conference road affair against Chadron State College.
Lena Jaycox connected on a three-point attempt at the 16:09 mark in the second half to tie the game at 39-39, however, the Eagles responded with a 16-0 run to pull away on Saturday night from the Chicoine Center. The burst of offensive production from Chadron kept the game in double figures until the final buzzer as the Grizzlies fall to 1-10, 1-6 RMAC with the loss. The Eagles notched their second win of the season and now stand at 2-10, 2-6 RMAC.
Despite struggles after halftime the Grizzlies and Eagles exchanged the lead periodically throughout the first half. The opening 20 minutes of action saw five lead changes as the Grizzlies held a 19-14 advantage after a
Maya Brown layup.
ASU shot 28 percent (19-66) from the field for the night as the Eagles posted a 44 percent (23-52) shooting mark.
Along with her 15 points Anderson also added four rebounds, an assist, and a block.
Emilie Klint was the only other Grizzly to finish in double digits with 10. Jaycox and
Kassidy Fair added eight points apiece.
Adams State now returns home for a pair of games on Jan. 9 & 10 when they will face Western New Mexico University and New Mexico Highlands University. Both games are set for a 5:30 p.m. start.
