Last Time Out For ASU
For the second consecutive week, Adams State was kept out of the end zone during a 26-0 defeat to Chadron State College from Elliott Field at Don Beebe Stadium.

The Grizzlies were limited to 176 yards of total offense and 10 first downs. Meanwhile, the Eagles wrapped up the conference tilt with 499 yards of total offense highlighted by 305 rushing yards. CSC running back Derek Johnson was responsible for 176 yards on the ground off 24 carries.

In his second collegiate start quarterback Johnny Feauto went 6-of-17 for 110 yards with one interception and a fumble. The true freshman was also sacked four times. Running back Addie Brown finished with 77 all-purpose yards in the loss. The junior tallied 55 yards rushing on 14 attempts and picked up 27 receiving yards off one reception. James Holtrop added a game-high 60 yards receiving off two receptions with a long of 48 yards. Linebacker Wesley Brandon collected a season-high 15 tackles (8 solo). Defensive back Bobby Anzures picked up 8 tackles (6 solo) to also produce a season-high. Lineman Ryan Orr was highly active in the contest with 7 tackles (5 solo), 2 tackles for loss, a sack, and a pass breakup.

About the Yellow Jackets
Having already squared off against three of the top four RMAC teams, BHSU is still searching for their first victory of the season. With the exception of a narrow 28-26 defeat at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, the Yellow Jackets have lost by an average of 43.2 points in their other five defeats. Amongst conference teams, BHSU ranks last in total defense (572.3 yards/game allowed) and 9th in scoring defense (50.5 ppg. allowed). The offense hasn't helped much as the BHSU program ranks 9th in both scoring offense and total offense.

In a 62-23 defeat on Oct. 10 to Western State Colorado University, BHSU took an early 10-7 lead in the first quarter. However, the Mountaineers rattled off 31 unanswered points in the quarter that followed to distance themselves in the lopsided contest.

True freshman quarterback Ryan Hommel ranks fifth in the RMAC in both passing yards/game (209.7) and total offense (239.0). Sophomore running back Phydell Paris' 89.5 rushing yards/game ranks 8th at the conference level. The Yellow Jackets are under the direction of head coach John Reiners who is in his fourth season at the helm. Before becoming head coach, Reiners spent three seasons as BHSU's offensive coordinator (2009-11).

Last We Met
Thanks to 23 unanswered points in the second quarter, ASU defeated BHSU, 37-27, on 10/18/14 from Lyle Hare Stadium. It marked the program's first Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) win of the season and in the process snapped a five game skid.

The Grizzlies began their push in the second quarter by way of three field goals to grab a 9-0 advantage. The ASU momentum appeared to be halted after the last field goal as BHSU quarterback Zach Meyer found Anthony Eboreim for a 67-yard touchdown. However, the play was called back with an offensive pass interference call. It was a call that weighed heavily on the game as ASU's Demari Reynolds picked off Meyer on the next play and returned the ball 15 yards for a Grizzly touchdown. The offensive pass interference eliminated the contest from becoming a one possession affair and instead resulted in ASU grabbing a 16-0 lead.

RMAC Rankings for ASU
Scoring Offense: 8th (of 10)…………….19.2 ppg.
Scoring Defense: 9th (of 10)………….....46.7 ppg allowed

Defensive Standouts
In the 26-0 loss to Chadron State, linebacker Wesley Brandon collected a season-best 15 tackles (8 solo). Defensive back Bobby Anzures and linebacker Zach Fees also stood out with 8 and 7 tackles, respectively. Lineman Ryan Orr was the busiest of all with 7 tackles (5 solo), 2 tackles for loss (11 yards), a sack (6 yards), and a pass breakup. Joshua Medrano and Quincey Davison also picked up a sack on the afternoon.

Searching For Points
The Grizzlies have now been kept off the scoreboard in eight consecutive quarters. The streak dates back to Sept. 26 when ASU scored in overtime during their thrilling comeback win against Western State. Since then the Grizzlies have been outscored 82-0.

Change It Up
Against Chadron State, Auston Hillman saw action as a wide receiver. The junior was moved from his traditional spot of quarterback for freshman Johnny Feauto. Hillman picked up one reception for 7 yards as a receiver in the loss.

New Year, New Gear
Unveiled for 2015 is a white matte finish helmet as well as a traditional green helmet that has been used in recent seasons. The biggest change comes in the form of the official Adams State U-Paw decal that is prominently displayed on both. Under the Schutt brand, both styles incorporate a green facemask with "Grizz" written on the nose bumper. Adams State last wore white helmets during the 1970's before switching to green.

Both helmets not only incorporate a new style but an upgrade in student-athlete safety by switching to the Schutt Vengeance VTD II and Schutt AiR XP Pro VTD helmet models. Both models have been evaluated and given the highest rating possible (5-Stars) according to Virginia Tech helmet ratings.
