LOGAN, Utah (November 17, 2015) – Adams State University was defeated, 83-68, against Utah State University from the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Tuesday night. It marked the first of two exhibition games this week against NCAA Division I opponents.
The Grizzlies shot 47.5 percent (28-59) from the field as
Kendyl Grover netted 15 of his team-high 17 points after halftime.
Shakir Smith added 13 points and dished out 5 assists in the loss.
Adams State led 14-12 midway through the first half before Utah State went on a 10-0 run. The lapse pushed the Grizzlies to a 47-27 halftime deficit.
Grover highlighted ASU's production in the second half and scored the team's first 11 points. Despite these efforts the Grizzlies still found themselves trailing by double digits for the remainder of the game. A three-pointer by
Bryan Umoru with 2:04 remaining brought ASU within 14 but the basket unfortunately served as the team's final field goal of the game.
The Aggies were paced by 21 points and 7 rebounds from Chris Smith. Utah State shot 51.7 percent (31-60) from the field and finished with a 41-28 rebounding edge.
The Grizzlies face Brigham Young University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20. Â
