Statement from head coach Kenny Tripp and program:

The Adams State men's basketball and athletic family is mourning the loss of Tajaun Jamestown. Jamestown, a redshirt sophomore, passed away in his hometown of Anchorage, Alaska on Tuesday, July 21st. He was 19 years old.

Tajaun arrived to Adams State after spending his senior year at Alamosa HS. After redshirting his first season, Jamestown came off the bench to appear in all 29 games for the Grizzlies. He was a spark that ignited his team, playing with an unrelenting determination to win and inspiring his teammates with his unselfishness and passion. His presence as a defensive-stopper shone true as he guarded the ball for the game's final stop at home vs Fort Lewis College. 

Off the court, Jamestown was working towards a degree in Business Administration. He grew as a student, applied himself,and earned a 3.8 GPA in the Spring '26 semester. Tajaun could not wait to get on the phone to share the news of his success in the classroom with his mother, Amber, after completing his last final of the spring. He had earned himself the best grades of his life and knew there were a lot of people that he had made proud of him with that accomplishment.

He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, cousin, teammate, and friend. We will miss his infectious smile and laugh, love of Rod Wave, ferocious loyalty, and unwavering work ethic. He cared deeply for his family and friends and had an impact on all of us that will not be forgotten. Our deepest condolences are with his loved ones during this difficult time.

Services are to be held at the Earl R. Brown Auditorium in Grant Hall on the campus of Alaska Pacific University on Friday, July 31st at 11:00am.
