Box Score GUNNISON, Colo.(December 18, 2015)— a career-high  28 points from 
Lena Jaycox was just enough for Adams State University to snap a three game losing streak and win on the road against the Western State Colorado-University Mountaineers.
The Grizzlies (2-5, 1-3 RMAC) came from behind to earn the victory 
Friday night, beating WSCU by a 71-65 score.  Jaycox, who put in a fine showing in 
tonight's affair, converted 6-13 from three-point territory in the contest.  She also totaled three assists and led the team with four steals.  She was the only Grizzly outside 
Cydney McHenry to score in the double-digit margin. McHenry finished with 11 points at the conclusion of the game.
Outside of Jaycox's sublime performance, The Grizzlies relied heavily on their bench and strong defensive team performance to put away the Mountaineers.  ASU was able to inject 14 points into the scoreboard off of turnovers and witness their bench put up 17 points.  The Grizzlies were also able to find a defensive answer to silence the effectiveness of the Mountaineers' leading scorer Taylor Long. For the game the Grizzlies limited Long to score only nine points.
For the game, ASU converted 37.1(23-63) percent of their shots and limited WSCU to shot only 30 (21-70) percent from the field.  Head Coach 
Larry Joe Hunt was quoted after the game stating "I thought we played with a lot of heart after we got behind. Sometimes you just have to find ways to win. Lena did a great job of putting us on her back and leading us to victory."
Adams State has now snapped a three game losing streak with 
tonight's results and will prepare for RMAC foe Colorado State University-Pueblo. The game will be played
Saturday, Dec. 19 and is scheduled for a 
5:30 pm tip-off.
