Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. (March 15, 2015)—The Adams State University women's lacrosse team took on the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks today in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) match up held at Adams State on Sunday afternoon.

The Skyhawks came ready to play, as they struck first twenty-six seconds into the first half of the game with Sara McMahon netting her first goal of the game. Seconds later, Fort Lewis' Taylor Cabrera netted her first goal, and gave the Skyhawks an early 2-0 lead.

The Grizzlies seemed to be unable to get anything going as again at 28:24, Fort Lewis saw their third goal in just over a minute of play by Jan Vertner, off an assist by Ellie Carpenter.

ASU took a penalty that saw Fort Lewis' Rebecca Miller capitalize off of a free- position shot that brought the score to 4-0.

The first twenty four minutes of the game saw the Skyhawks dominate offensively as they netted seven goals.

Adams State's first goal came at 5:39, with Kendra Cheda netting her first goal of the game off of an assist by Qiana Barfield to put the Grizzlies on the board.

Soon after that, at 2:08, the Skyhawks' Brooke Galle netted her first, and Fort Lewis' eight goal of the half, to take the lead 8-1 going into the second half.

The Grizzlies appeared to come out stronger in the second half as they held off the charging Skyhawks for the first nine minutes. However, at 21:25, Lauren Appenzelle, with an assist by Carpenter, brought the score to 9-1 and gave Fort Lewis a commanding eight- point lead.  Teammate Mac Harper would then net her first goal of the game with an assist by Vertner only thirteen seconds later, to make the score 10-1.

Barfield would then give the Grizzlies their second goal at 12:48 left in the game. This would be the last goal for Adams State.

Fort Lewis kept charging and despite the fight that the Grizzlies brought, ended up winning the game 15-2.

The Grizzlies will take to the field on March 21, 2015 in St. Louis, MO. against Florida Southern College at 8 pm.
