Box Score ST.LOUIS, MO. (March 21, 2015)—To kick off their four game road trip in the midwest, the Adams State University Grizzlies faced the sixth-ranked Florida Southern College Moccasins on Saturday evening.
The game started out with a goal by the Mocs just fifty seconds in to the half, with Lorraine Hoover finding the net to put FSC up by one. Florida Southern would add two more goals early in the first, but their 3-0 run was stopped by
Kendra Cheda who put the Grizzlies on the board at 27:12 to bring the score to 3-1.
Ashley Robertson (off a Caitlin Chase assist) would bring the score to 4-1 at 24:27, but was quickly counteracted by
Aislinn Stace just nineteen seconds later to cut the Mocs' lead in half, 4-2.
FSC would go on a four goal run, which was stopped by
Qiana Barfield at 16:49. The score was now 8-3 in favour of the Mocs. Stace would strike again at 10:52, to once again cut the lead in half.
Closing out the first half, Florida Southern would go on a 5-0 run to bring the score end the half, 13-5.
The start of the second half saw Cheda start the Grizzlies off with her second goal of the season three minutes in to the half. However, the Mocs would add three more to the score, which was now 16-5.
FSC would cause a foul that afforded Adams State a free-position shot, in which
Jessica Hammer was able to capitalize and net her first goal of the game. The score was now 16-6.
The Mocs would then score three more to increase their lead by thirteen. Stace would net the last goal of the game for the Grizzlies, and the final score would end up 19-5.
Adams State was led by Stace (3 goals), Cheda (2 goals), and Barfield and Hammer who each netted one goal.
The Grizzlies next take to the field Sunday against #3 Lindenwood at 5 p.m. (Central ).
