Box Score GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (April 26, 2015)—In their last game of the 2015 season, the Adams State University Women's Lacrosse team took on the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks today at Walker Field. Unfortunately, the Grizzlies were unable to defeat CMU, as they fell 14-11.
The first half saw Adams State draw the first blood with
Jessica Hammer finding the net at 27:36. A minute later, though the Mavericks struck back to tie the game up 1-1.
CMU would net one more to take a 2-1 lead, but
Kendra Cheda would score her first of the game at 25:40 to tie the game at 2-2.
Qiana Barfield would keep the momentum going for ASU at 23:33 to give the Grizzlies a 3-2 lead, while just twnety-nine seconds later
Aislinn Stace would net her first of the game to put Adams State up 4-2.
Hammer would then net her second of the game at 21:36 to give the Grizzlies a three-goal lead over the Mavericks.
CMU would get one back at 20:25 to cut the lead down to two, but Cheda would get her second of the game at 16:56 and put the Grizzlies back up by three at 6-3.
At 15:54 the Mavericks would find the net, but Hammer (assist
Heather Jones) would net her hat trick to once again put ASU up by three.
Colorado Mesa would then start to make a comeback, with their last two goals of the half coming at 10:06 and 4:45 to cut the Grizzlies' lead down two one, at 7-6 heading into halftime.
Stace would get things started in the first three minutes of the game with her second goal of the game at 27:41. This goal would once again see Adams State go up by two. The Mavericks would score two goals to tie the game up 8-8, but Jones would score her first of the game at 19:54 to put the Grizzlies up 9-8.
Almost a minute later though, Colorado Mesa would once again tie the game up at 9-9. Stace would get that one back for ASU with her hat trick goal at 15:26.
The Mavericks would go on to score three more quick goals to take an 12-10 lead over Adams State. This was their second lead of the game, as well as their largest to this point.
With 3:37 left on the clock, Barfield netted her second of the game to cut CMU's lead down to one, but it wasn't enough as Colorado Mesa netted two more points to take the final lead of the game, 14-11.
The Grizzlies end their 2015 season with a 1-12 (1-5 RMAC) record.
