CHADRON, Neb.-(September 19, 2015)—The Adams State University Grizzlies women's volleyball team won
tonight on the road in their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) matchup against the Chadron State College Eagles in four sets. With
tonight's results, the Grizzlies snap a two game losing streak and improve their record to 2-8, 1-1 in RMAC play. Chadron's record on the other hand falls to 2-8 while standing 1-1 in RMAC bouts.
In
tonight's game the Grizzlies won the via match scores of 26-24, 25-13, 26-24, and 25-13. The Grizzlies won the first, third, and fourth matches. Without question this was one of the Grizzlies closely contested games so far this season. Relying heavily on the offensive performances of
Mallory Grimsrud,
Briannah Mariner, and
Alex Parker, ASU was able to discover a winning formula that spelled success. Grimsrud, who has been in fantastic from of late, showcased her abilities once again
tonight and has continued to solidify herself as one of Head Coach Lindy Mortenson's most consistent offensive play makers. She lead the team with 13 kills in
tonight's affair against the Eagles on an outstanding hitting percentage of .333. Mariner posted 10 kills in
tonight' bout and Parker chipped in nine.
In a game that proved to me much of a see-saw back and forth affair, the Grizzlies were able to corral the Eagle attack effectively in the final fourth match. Parker also had a fantastic showing on the defensive side of the net by leading the team with four kills.
Katelyn Schwartz assisted the Grizzlies in 30 of their 47 kills while Mariner and
Gabrielle Timmen each posted 15 digs respectively.
The Grizzlies will now return home to prepare for the likes of RMAC foes Metropolitan State University-Denver and The University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. ASU will tip off against MSUD at
7 p.m. on Sept. 25
th from Plachy Hall. Live stats will be accessible for fans at
