ALAMOSA, Colo. (January, 21 2016) – Adams State University closed out their four-game stretch on the road and will come back to Alamosa to open a four-game home stand. This weekend Adams State will start things off against New Mexico Highlands University on Friday and will close against Western New Mexico University on Saturday. Both games will see a 7:30 p.m. tip off.
 
Last Time Out
The Grizzlies (7-9,6-5 RMAC) opened last weekend with a win in Salt Lake City against Westminster College. Kendall Grover led the Grizzlies in the first half with 12 points to a 40-26 halftime lead. In the second half Shakir Smith came alive and posted 17 of his 24 points on the night and carried the Grizzlies the rest of the way to a 79-60 victory.
 
The Grizzlies took that momentum into Grand Junction to face Colorado Mesa University. ASU took the lead immediately and ran out to a 12-5 lead. From there CMU posted 18 unanswered points. Adams State was unable to catch up despite a double-double from Kendyl Grover and would go on to fall 71-88.
 
About New Mexico Highlands University (10-7, 9-2 RMAC)
The Cowboys have made strides from last year's 5-21 record. New Mexico Highlands currently leads the Mountain Division of the RMAC with their conference high 9 wins. They also currently post the third most points per game in the conference at 81.6 going 47 percent from the field. They also lead all RMAC teams in 3-point percentage per game going 39.5 percent from beyond the arc. Jonathon Mines leads the Cowboys averaging 20.4 points per game.
 
About Western New Mexico University (1-15, 1-10 RMAC)
The Mustangs have been struggling and hold the worst record in the conference. WNMU's only win has come against Chadron State in overtime. Willie McCray leads all Mustangs with 170 points. McCray has also collected 26 assists and 17 steals, both stats lead the team. Emery Range is second on the team in points with 157. Range leads his team with 86 rebounds.

 The Grizzlies went into Las Vegas and made a ruckus. They ripped off 60 points in the first half thanks to 19 from Juwan Buchanan and 22 from Mikey Hope. Buchanan would continue on in the second half and rack up 33 points on the night going 78 percent from the field carrying the Grizzlies to a strong late season win.

Western New Mexico - 67
The Grizzlies would take all the momentum from their victory against NMHU and carry it with them into Silver City against Western New Mexico. After going into the locker room up by two, 37-35, ASU would run away with it to take their second win in as many days. Juwan Buchanan would lead the Grizzlies again in points posting 17 on the night. Buchanan would also pull down 8 rebounds. Mike Middlebrooks collected 11 rebounds to lead the Grizzlies.
 
Special Nights
 
The Grizzlies come back to Alamosa with two special nights.
 
Against New Mexico Highlands University on Friday,  the Grizzlies will feature ASU Pride Night. Bring your green and ASU gear and support the Grizzlies! On Saturday the Grizzlies face Western New Mexico University and will feature camouflage night. Bring the camo and blend into your surroundings.
