ALAMOSA, Colo. (September 30
th, 2016) --- The volleyball team went 5 sets tonight but came away with a 3-2 victory over the rivals of Western State Colorado.
Adams State (9-5) took the first 2 sets by a score of 25-20 and 25-23, and would hold a 2 set lead heading in to the break. A dominate effort by Western (7-6) in the 3
rd forced the game in to extra sets. Despite a quick Grizzlies 3-0 start of the 4
th set, the Mountaineers powered back to win the set 25-18. In the 5
th set, Adams cruised to an 8-2 lead, before finally ending it 15-8.
The Grizzlies are now 4-1 in RMAC play.
Nina Mody-Bailey led all scorers with 14 kills, while
Katelyn Schwartz added 37 assists.
Mallory Grimsrud recorded 6 blocks on the night.
The team returns to action tomorrow night in Plachy Hall at 7:00pm against Colorado Mesa.
