ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 30th, 2016) – Conference play launches this weekend as Adams State University hosts New Mexico Highlands University and Colorado State University-Pueblo.

nd with CSU-Pueblo making a trip to Alamosa Dec. 3
rd. Both RMAC games are scheduled for a 7:30pm start. Both games will be preceded by the ASU women's basketball games against New Mexico Highlands and CSU-Pueblo.

Last Time Out
Another exceptional shooting night translated into a dominate win for Adams State University as they defeated Northern New Mexico College, 101-72, on Nov. 22
nd for the Grizzlies' home opener.
It marked the first game of this season that Adams State (3-3) surpassed 100 points and was the fourth consecutive game the program shot over 50 percent from the field.
Shane Johnson paced the Green & White with 23 points and 4 assists.
Brandon Pasker was a rebound shy of his first double-double of the season. Pasker finished with 17 points and 9 rebounds.

Jarrett Givens added 10. In the win, the Grizzlies saw contributions from everyone as all 11 players who entered the game scored.
Offense on Fire
During the last four games, the Grizzlies have shot over 50 percent from the field and atleast 41 percent from three-point territory. In this span the Grizzlies have gone 3-1 to claw back to .500. The jump in offensive production has moved the team scoring average from 76.0 ppg. to 88.8 ppg. Their scoring output now ranks second in the conference.
Conference Glance
As conference play begins this weekend, Regis University stands atop the RMAC with a spotless 6-0 record followed by Colorado School of Mines and Fort Lewis College each at 5-1.
Scouting The Cowboys
New Mexico Highlands owns a 2-2 record and are coming off an 87-73 win to conclude a back-to-back home and away series with Western New Mexico University. On the season, the Cowboys average 79.5 ppg. and allow 78.8 ppg. The program has five players averaging double figures led by 16.3 ppg. from James Healy and Marlon Johnson. In addition to his scoring production, Johnson pulls down 11.0 rebounds per game and has a team-best 9 blocks on the season. The program is coming off a 14-8 conference mark last season as the Cowboys finished 15-14 overall. The Cowboys are coached by Craig Snow in his third season at the helm.
Scouting The ThunderWolves
Despite a 2-3 record, CSU-Pueblo is fresh off a 79-78 road win against No. 7 Tarleton State University on Nov. 25. Against Tarleton State, Mark Williams came off the bench for 25 points as Josh Smith (16) and Will Newman (15) also finished in double figures. The win was made possible by a Rico Spikes steal on a Tarleton in-bounds play with two-seconds remaining. Spikes was fouled on the steal and made his first attempt as the ThunderWolves were in the bonus.
CSU-Pueblo ranks second in the RMAC in field goal shooting (51%) and post 83.6 ppg. while allowing 81.2 ppg. Williams leads the team with 16.6 ppg. as Nelson Kahler ranks second in the conference with 2.0 blocks per game. The program is coached by Ralph Turner in his sixth season.
Last We Met
The Grizzlies dropped both of their games to the Cowboys last season by a combined 12 points. The Cowboys won in Alamosa, 100-91, on 1/22/16 and followed with a 95-92 home win on 2/20/16. The Grizzlies and ThunderWolves split their season series in 2015-16 with both programs winning at home. Adams State defeated CSU-Pueblo, 85-78, on 2/12/16.
Looking Ahead
After home games this weekend, the Grizzlies return to the road to face Western State Colorado University on Dec. 9
th at 7:30pm. The next night the team faces Colorado Mesa University at 7:30pm.
Season Outlook
The Grizzlies were picked 12
th in the RMAC Preseason Coaches' Poll on Oct. 11
th. Adams State received 57 total points in the poll as Colorado Mines was tabbed to finish first with 186 points and 5 first-place votes. Joshua Blaylock of Fort Lewis College was named the Preseason Player of the Year. Gokul Natesan of Colorado Mines was picked Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
