ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 5
th, 2016) --- Despite fighting back from a 0-2 deficit, the Grizzlies were defeated in the final home game of 2016 by a score of 3-2.
Savannah Smith and
Nina Mody-Bailey celebrated their senior nights tonight as Adams took on Colorado Christian. The Cougars jumped out to a 2 set lead at the break, winning 25-20 and 25-22. The Grizzlies would not go away easily, winning the fourth and fifth sets 25-22 and 25-16. In the fifth set, the teams kept it close through 7 points. The Cougars then rattled off 8 of the next 9 points to secure the 15-8 victory.
Hannah Atkinson led all scorers with 18 kills.
Rachael Ringler had a huge outing with 51 assists. In their final Adams State home games,
Nina Mody-Bailey had 13 kills, and
Savannah Smith had 19 digs.
The loss drops ASU to 14-11. The win improves CCU to 18-9.
The team will finish their regular season on the road at CSU-Pueblo next Tuesday and at Western State next Saturday.
