ALAMOSA, Colo. (June 27, 2016) – Adams State University has discontinued its varsity sponsorship of men's golf and men's swimming effective immediately.
Scholarships for the discontinued sports will be honored should the student-athletes choose to remain at Adams State. Releases will be offered to those who wish to transfer to other schools, where they will be eligible to participate immediately. Funds will be reallocated to the women's golf and women's swimming programs in an effort to remain competitive within the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
Adams State will sponsor 17 sports starting in fall of 2016: nine for women (softball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, track & field, volleyball) and eight for men (baseball, football, basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, track & field, wrestling). Adams State is also proud to sponsor six club sports (men's rugby, men's & women's rodeo, cycling, climbing, men's volleyball, and spirit).
