ALAMOSA, Colo. (September 30, 2016) – Adams State University returned to the home pitch on Friday to face Westminster College in an RMAC tilt.
Unfortunately for the Grizzly faithful, Adams State fell 1-0 to the Griffins. With the loss, Adams State drops to 4-5 overall and 1-4 in conference play. Meanwhile, Westminster moves to 2-6 overall and 1-4 in RMAC matches.
Despite Adams State notching nine shots in the first half, they were unable to find the back of the net. Leading the charge were
Ethan Jackson and
Symon Fabbricatore with three and two shots, respectively, during the opening half of play.
The lone goal of the game came from Westminster's Jordan Jones with an assist from Cristian Alfaro in the 60
th minute.
Following the goal the Grizzlies were unable to crack the scoreboard as Griffins' goalkeeper Max Medley held steady to maintain his clean sheet. Medley finished the game with six saves.
For the match, Fabbricatore, Jackson,
Ruben Molinar,
Carlos Castro, and
Howard Samuel each recorded a shot on goal. Keeper
Austin Baumeister concluded with a game-high seven saves.
Next for the Grizzlies is a road meeting with Colorado Mesa University on Oct. 2. Game time is set for 1pm from Grand Junction.
