COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –Adams State's Lauren Martin was selected to the NCAA Woman of the Year Top 30 list released on Wednesday.

A record 517 school nominees were submitted this year, which was whittled down to 142 conference nominees. The committee selected 30 women from that pool – 10 from each of the three NCAA divisions – representing 13 sports and a host of undergraduate majors, including biology, accounting, criminal justice, education, engineering and computer science.

The top 30 honorees have demonstrated excellence in academics, athletics, community service and leadership.

The NCAA selection committee will name nine finalists – three women from each division – in late September. From the nine finalists, the NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics will select the 2016 Woman of the Year, who will be announced Oct. 16 at a ceremony in Indianapolis.

Martin finished her senior year during the 2015-16 season. She was recently named 2015-16 RMAC Woman of the Year, an award presented to graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate career in areas of academic achievement, athletic excellence, community service and leadership.
 
The Alamosa, Colorado native ended her career as a four-time National Champion, including two recent national titles at the 2016 NCAA DII Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She was a nine-time All-American, four-time CoSIDA Academic All-American, and a five-time RMAC Champion and four-time RMAC All-Academic for cross country and track and field.
 
Off the track, Martin was heavily involved with the campus and local community. Martin was the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Vice-President, representing Adams State at the national level. She also managed a 3.78 GPA in political science during her undergraduate studies and pursued a Master's in Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Leadership graduate degree, posting a 3.90 GPA.
