Golden, Colo. — The Adams State Grizzlies kicked off the RMAC Track and Field Championships on Friday, competing in seven events on Day 1.
Calix Caldwell was the Grizzlies' lone field event competitor, placing 14th in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.36 meters.
Action on the track started with the 1,500-meter preliminaries, where Adams State advanced three women to the final. Fiona Hawkins and Clara Keddy secured fifth and sixth with times of 4:42.06 and 4:46.04, respectively. Megan Garrett also punched her ticket to the final, finishing eighth in 4:48.04. On the men's side, Danyom Yosief moved on to the final after clocking a 3:58.29.
In the women's 400 meters, Alese Sartain posted a provisional qualifying time of 54.91 seconds and enters the final as the top seed.
Chris Rader advanced to the final in the men's 100-meter dash, finishing fifth in the prelims with a time of 10.69.
Victoria Amiadamen also delivered a strong performance in the women's 400-meter hurdles, running a provisional qualifying time of 1:00.90 to earn the No. 1 seed. The event saw four athletes dip under the provisional qualifying standard.
The Grizzlies start Day 2 action with men's discus at 12:30 p.m. and the 200m dash on the track at 4 p.m.
