Colorado Springs, Colo. – Ava O'Connor has been named the 2025 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, the league office announced Tuesday, headlining a strong All-RMAC showing for the Grizzlies with 10 total honorees across the men's and women's teams.
O'Connor, a senior from Emo, Ireland, earns the prestigious recognition after an exceptional season that saw her post NCAA Division II's fastest times in both the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as well as the third-fastest time in the 5,000-meter run. She is set to compete in the steeplechase and 5,000 at this week's NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
She is one of seven Grizzly women to earn All-RMAC honors. The First Team includes Alese Sartain (400-meter dash, 4x400-meter relay), Lauren O'Campo (javelin), and the 4x400-meter relay team of Sartain, Isila Apkup, Lieke Hoogsteen, and Jessica Simon. Fiona Hawkins (1,500m) and Clara Keddy (800m) were named to the Second Team.
On the men's side, Sam Dirkes earned All-RMAC First Team honors in the shot put and Second Team recognition in the discus. Chris Rader (100-meter dash) and Keirryse Simpson (200-meter dash) both earned spots on the Second Team.
With O'Connor leading the way, the Grizzlies look towards Nationals which begins Thursday.
