VB| Colorado Mines And Christian Preview

ALAMOSA, Colorado– The Adams State University volleyball team finish out its road schedule this weekend before returning home for the remainder of the year. Friday's contest will be at the Colorado School of Mines at 7:00PM and Saturday will be at Colorado Christian at 5:00PM.

Recently In Adams State Volleyball:
The Grizzlies (12-11, 8-6 RMAC) are on the hottest streak of the year having won five in a row. The streak has Adams State in seventh place in the RMAC and one more win should secure the team a spot in the RMAC tournament. Mallory Grimsrud is currently first in the conference in scoring with 342 kills, 100 total blocks, and 413 overall points.

About Colorado Mines:
The Orediggers will be clear favorites entering Friday. At 19-4, they are the nation's 17th ranked team and the RMAC's second place team. They are coming off their first conference loss to Regis 0-3 last Saturday. The irony of that loss was that it ended a 13-game winning streak that started after a September loss to Regis also. Mines will boast the best assister in the conference in Marina Hansen who averages 13.10 per set.

Last Meeting:
The last meeting was at home this season on October 7th. In the match the teams traded wins in the first two sets but CSM eventually won out 3-1. Mallory Grimsrud and Macie Magallon hit the double-digit mark in kills with 14 and 11 respectively. Rachel Ringler set a personal season high (at that time) with 43 assists. Blocks were key for Adams leading to 21 points. Shannon Mulkey contributed six of those blocks. The Orediggers were very clutch on serves with nine aces led by LaRose Currie's four.

About Colorado Christian:
The Cougars are currently 14-9, 11-3 RMAC and sit in fourth place in conference. Their only RMAC losses come from the three teams ahead of them in the standings. CCU will also bring in one of the strongest setters in the RMAC in Kylee Wurster with 1010 season assists.

Last Meeting:
Easily the most controversial game of the season occurred back on October 6th in Alamosa. An illegal substitution and a protest shaved the Grizzlies' six point lead into an eight point deficit late in the first set essentially handing the set to the Cougars. They would go on to win 3-1 that night. Mallory Grimsrud, Hannah Goddard, and Macie Magallon all hit double-digits in kills with 16, 10, and 10 respectively. Rachel Ringler distributed the ball excellently with 41 assists. Grimsrud also added seven total blocks. Preseason RMAC player of the year, Sophia Proano recorded 19 kills on the night for the Cougars.
