The Adams State University women's basketball team hits the road this weekend for the start of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference part of the schedule. The Grizzlies are traveling to Las Vegas, New Mexico Friday evening to take on New Mexico Highlands, before finishing their trip in Pueblo, Colorado Saturday night against CSU-Pueblo. Friday's game begins at 5 p.m., while Saturday's is at 5:30 p.m.
The Adams State women's basketball team is off to its' best start in years and is looking poised to continue it throughout the season. The team is led by Macy Meyers and Stephanie Ruiz, both of which are averaging more than 13 points per game. Brooke Neal and
Nicole Broyles-Mortensen are both adding more than 10 points per game, while Mortensen leads the team with nearly seven boards per game.
Friday will serve as the conference opener for both the Cowgirls and Grizzlies. The Grizzlies currently hold a record of 2-0 while the Cowgirls stand at 2-3 overall. The two teams split in their two games last season with the away team taking both of the games.
Following Friday night's game, Adams State will be traveling back to Colorado in a Saturday night game against Colorado State University- Pueblo. The Thunder Wolves currently hold a record of 2-4 for its season.
