ALAMOSA, Colo. (February 19th, 2017) – The Adams State University women's basketball team hits the road to wrap up the 2016-17 season. An uncommon Tuesday evening game will see Adams State face Fort Lewis in Durango at 5:30pm. The season will close with a contest in Salt Lake City against Westminster on Saturday, also at 5:30pm.

Recently For Adams State Women's Basketball:
The Grizzlies have been playing relentlessly on defense over the past several games. ASU has racked up 48 steals combined in the last four times out. Despite the defensive effort, Adams lost this past weekend's only game. Colorado Christian was able to pull away for an 87-73 win last Friday night in Alamosa.

About Fort Lewis:
The Skyhawks are currently ranked No. 9 in the region, though they are not ranked nationally. Overall they are 19-6 (14-6 RMAC). Fort Lewis is currently 6-1 in their last seven games with the only loss coming from No. 3 ranked CSU-Pueblo who was undefeated at that time. The team is led by their junior guard, Briana Clah who averages 14.1 points per game. Alyssa Yocky and Kayla Herrera also average 12.8 and 12.6 points respectively.

Last Meeting: These teams last met on December 13th, 2016. In that one, despite facing a team with only two losses, the Grizzlies were within reach for three and a half quarters. Trailing 7-14 heading into the second quarter, the Grizzlies would find some success with a 6-0 run to cut the lead to just one. A close contest ensued for the next four minutes with Fort Lewis never leading by more than four points. Eventually, the Skyhawks pulled away with a 10-0 run to take a comfortable 31-19 lead into the half. That run would make the difference as the Skyhawks won 63-48.

About Westminster:
The Griffins are an average 10-14 (8-12 RMAC) on the year. They did however put the only blemish on CSU-Pueblo's record this year. On February 10th, Westminster pulled of the RMAC upset of the year by beating the 24-0 ThunderWolves 85-81 in Salt Lake City. Most recently, the team lost to Regis yesterday by a score of 63-56. Sydnee Taylor leads the team with 11.7 points per game.

Last Meeting: The December 16th, 2016 meeting between the Grizzlies and the Griffins was tight. Westminster would squeak by for the 84-75 win that night. The Grizzlies kept themselves in it by forcing 21 turnovers which led to 15 points. Lejla Hadzialijagic and Nicole Broyles-Mortensen both had three steals in the defensive effort. Equally helpful was the 41.2% 3 point shooting to help the team stay within reach. Westminster shot a similar 47.4% from downtown. Freshman, Brianna Reyna had an unbelievable afternoon with 21 points. She also connected on 100% of all 3 of her 3 point shots. Lauren McDonald and Cydney McHenry also reached double digits in points with 14 and 11 respectively.
