ALAMOSA, Colo. (April 2nd, 2017) --- The Adams State women's lacrosse team had an unfavorable game against a very good team this morning on the ASU lacrosse field. Colorado Mesa (9-2) was able to leave Alamosa with a 16-1 win.

Mary Koch scored early to put Mesa on top 1-0.
Cera Cyester evened things up with an assist from
Jessica Hammer. This was Cyester's team-leading seventh goal of the season. The Mavericks would break the tie a few minutes later and begin their 15-0 run on their way to a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference win.

Alexis Wellong led the way in ground balls with three.
Hannah King also had a ground ball and two draw controls.
Jessica Hammer collected two ground balls and a draw control to go along with her assist. In the goal,
Alyse Mims had five saves which was two more than her opponent. The Grizzlies gave a great defensive effort with 16 forced turnovers and 11 ground balls.

Angelica Gero had this to say of today's game, "I was really proud of how well we moved the ball today. We were able to keep possession for a decent amount of time, and also to hold them on our defensive side. This was a good game for us against a very athletic team."

The team will host one more game on their home stand against Johnson and Wales next Thursday, April 6
