HILLSDALE, Michigan. (April 28, 2017) – While most of the Adams State University Track & Field team stayed home this weekend to gear up for the upcoming RMAC Championship, a small contingent of Grizzlies competed today at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays. Every ASU athlete that raced posted a national provisional qualifying mark, while junior
Jenna Thurman notched her second automatic qualifying mark of the outdoor season.
Thurman's third place mark of 16:09.84 in the women's 5000m currently ranks second at the NCAA Division II level. Teammate
Sadie Baker was ninth with a time of 16:50.84, a mark that ranks 15th in Division II.
Malena Grover was close behind in 10th, running 16:56.39, and
Aden Alemu ran 17:03.51. At the national level, Grover now ranks 18
th and Alemu 29
th.
In the men's 5000m,
Kyle Masterson was 10th with a time of 14:32.45, and
Joshua Joseph 11th in 14:33.44.
Representing Adams State in the 10,000m race were
Sean Fontana and
Lucio Ramirez. Fontana won the event, running 29:52.84, and Ramirez took second running 30:06.89.
