CLEVELAND, Ohio - Adams State University has moved into second in the nation in the NACDA Learfield Directors' Cup standing. The Grizzlies were in eighth place following the completion of the fall sports with 200 points for winning both NCAA Division II Cross Country titles.
Adams State is currently second with 401.25 points after placing third in men's indoor track and field, tied for fifth in women's track and field and finishing 32nd in wrestling. Adams trails only Colorado School of Mines who earned just 105 points this winter thus far compared to Adams' national high 201.25 points through the first section of winter sports. Still to go are men and women's swimming and men and women's basketball.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) andÂ
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
The RMACÂ currently sits with the top two spots as well as the eighth spot coming from Western State.Â
With the top-15 sports accounting for the totals, Adams State will look to make up the final points in men and women's outdoor track and field. The Grizzlies are the only school in Colorado to earn the award.
