ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Athletics Director
Larry Mortensen is pleased to announce the hiring of
Monica Plut as the Associate Head Women's Lacrosse Coach. Plut joined the Grizzlies earlier this month.
Plut, an Oakville, Ontario native, comes to Adams State from working in Hospitality Sales and coaching in Lexington, Kent. Plut joins the Grizzlies to assist current head Coach
Kate Leavell as she is set to transition out in March. Leavell was hired back in July to lead the women's lacrosse program but will step down toward the end of the season to help with family matters back home in Minnesota.
"We are excited to have Monica join the staff," said Mortensen. "Monica brings experience and a lot of energy that will be great for the program. Kate has done a great job in growing the program to keep it moving in the right direction."
Both Leavell and Plut will continue to work together and grow the Adams State program as the 2019 season is set to begin in less than a month.
"College coaching has always been a dream job of mine and I am so thankful for the opportunity to continue to follow my passion and dream on coaching at the next level," said Plut. "I am excited to bring my knowledge of lacrosse and positive team culture to the Grizzlies and continue to grow the program!"
