Adams State Hits the Road for Four RMAC Games

ALAMOSA, Colo. - Adams State Men's Basketball hits the road for the next four games. The Grizzlies will look to keep their postseason hopes alive while on the road before returning to Plachy Hall Gym in February.

Tip-Off
• The Grizzlies (5-11, 5-6 RMAC) hits the road for four straight games as the second half of RMAC play picks up. They are 2-3 in true road games this season. 
• Adams State is still in a three-way tie for the eight in the RMAC standings. They are tied with MSU Denver and Dixie State for the final spot for the RMAC Tournament.
• The Grizzlies are coming off a win over rival Western Colorado, 98-89, last Saturday at home. They will look to carry that momentum into this weekend.
• Adams State will head to Utah next weekend for two more RMAC road games. They head to Westminster College and Dixie State on Feb. 1 and 2, respectively.

Adams State Breakdown
• The Grizzlies continue to be one the highest scoring offenses in the RMAC entering this weekend. They are fifth averaging 81.7 points per game on an even 45% shooting from the floor. They average a 28.4 shooting percentage from three-point range.
• Defensively, Adams State gives up 84.8 points per game and 49.3% shooting to the opposition. Both averages are second worst in the RMAC. Opponents shoot 38.2% from deep against Adams State.
• The Grizzlies are second as a unit in the conference in free throw percentage. They average 75.3% from the charity strip on 299-397 made shots.
• Four players continue to average double-digit points in John Dewey, Davere Creighton, Shemar Johnson, and Rickey Norris. All four players have averaged double figures since the start of RMAC play.
• Dewey is the overall leader averaging 19.4 points per contest on 41.9% shooting. His scoring average is fourth in the RMAC, while his percentage is 17th. His third in minute splayed averaging 34.4 per game.
• Creighton is second at 15.1 points per game and shoots an average of 38.7% shooting. He is 13th in the conference in points and 17th in percentage.
• Johnson is the third leading scorer at 12.4 points per game, while Norris is fourth at 12.1 points. Johnson has the highest field goal percentage at 49% which is 10th in the RMAC.
• Creighton is the leading rebounder with an average of 7.9 boards per game. He is second in the RMAC with his average. Norris is second on the team at 6.2 rebounds per game.
• Dewey still leads the way in assists averaging 4.1 per game has tallied 65 total. his average is third in the RMAC. He is 11th in the conference  in assist-turnover ratio at 1.2.
• Dewey and Norris are the leaders in steals. Dewey is tops at 1.8, while Norris is second at 1.4. The duo rank fourth and 11th in the RMAC, respectively.
• Norris has the most blocks for the Grizzlies with 13 and averages 0.9 per game. He is tied for 10th in the RMAC with his average.
• With a free throw percentage of 92.4%, Dewey is the only player in the RMAC averaging over 90% to lead the way. He is 97-105 from the free throw line this season and is tied for third in Division II with his percentage.
• The Grizzlies are seventh in the RMAC as a team in rebounds averaging 35.4 per game and are third in offensive boards at 10.8. They also rank fifth in steals averaging 6.75 per contest.

Scouting Colorado Christian
• The Cougars are just 4-13 overall coming into the weekend and are 2-9 against RMAC opponents. They are coming off a 86-77 home win this past Saturday against Westminster College.
• CCU averages 70.8 points per game and shoots 46.3% from the floor as well. They average a 38.9 shooting percentage from deep, which is second best in the RMAC. Their overall field percentage is fourth in the conference.
• Defensively, the Cougars give up an average of 81.1 points to their opponents on an average of 50.7% shooting overall and 42% from deep. Both percentages allowed are the worst in the RMAC.
• Four players are averaging double figures led by Jeremiah Hanson's 13.8 points per game. he shoots 51.1% from the floor which is seventh in the RMAC.
• Braxton Tucker, Justin Engesser, and Stefan Hackenthal round out the double-digit scoring. Tucker is second at 12.6 points per game while Engesser and Hackenthal average 11.9 and 10 points per game, respectively.
• Tucker shoots an average of 56.5% from the floor to lead CCU and ranks second in the RMAC. He also leads the team in rebounds with an average of 5.7 boards per contest.
• Engesser is the top assist man with an average of 3.1 per game and has 53 total this season.His assist average is tied for 11th in the RMAC. He also has the most blocks with five.
• Hanson leads the way in steals with 12 total and averages 0.7 per game.
• As a unit, CCU is tied for second in the RMAC with Adams State in free throw percentage at 75.3%.

Scouting Regis
• The Rangers are 11-6 overall and 8-3 in the RMAC coming into the weekend. They are winners in five of their last six games and are 7-3 at home this season.
• Regis is sixth in the RMAC  in scoring averaging 78.4 points per game and average 46% shooting from the field. Their percentage is tied for fifth in the conference and they have the fourth highest three-point percentage at 38%.
• Defensively, the Rangers allow an average of 72.4 points per game. Opponents shoot 45.1% against them overall and 36.6% from beyond the arc. Their points allowed is fifth lowest in conference, while their overall percentage defense is sixth lowest.
• Jarrett Brodbeck and Christian Little are the only player in double figures this season. Brodbeck leads the way averaging 18.1 points per game, while Little averages 16.2 points per game.
• Brodbeck's average is sixth in the conference, while Little ranks 11th. Little has the better percentage at 54.2% to rank fifth in the RMAC. Brodbeck shoots 42.6% on average and is 16th in the RMAC.
• Ryan Beisty is the leading rebounder with 125 total and averages 7.4 boards per contest. He is the only Ranger with 100-plus rebounds and is sixth in the RMAC with his average.
• Little also leads the way in assists for Regis dishing out 3.6 assist per game. He has totaled 61 so far this year and is tied for 11th in average in the RMAC. Little also has the most steals at 27 and averages 1.7 per game.
• Roberto Vercellino is the rim protector with 12 total blocks in 17 games played. He averages 0.7 swats per game.
• As a unit, Regis is sixth in the conference in both free throw percentage (73.9%) and rebounds per game (35.8).
• Brodbeck is fourth in individual free throw percentage in the RMAC at 86.5%.
