ALAMOSA, Colo. - Adams State Softball is on the road again as they head up to the capital to take on Regis University in a four game set this weekend. The games will not count as conference match-ups.

Leading off
• The Grizzlies are still winless on the year after going 0-6 in the ASU George & Ola McCorkle Challenge. They will be looking for the first W of the year as they take on the equally winless Regis Rangers.
• It will be a four game series consisting of two double headers on Saturday and Sunday.
• All four games will be available to stream through the softball page on the Adams State website. Live stats will also be available for all four games.
• The Grizzlies will start RMAC play next week with games against both Dixie State and Colorado Christian. Those games will be played in St. George Utah, Feb. 23-24

Taylor at the Helm
• Head Coach Dervin Taylor is in his 12th season leading the Adams State Softball program. Coach Taylor is 266-281 overall in leading the Grizzlies.
Last Time Out
• The Grizzlies faced a power outage in Texas as they were shut out in two of the three games against then No. 6 Angelo State. They played Texas A&M International closer, with the closest loss only being by four runs.
• Shortstop was a shining light for the Grizzlies last week with Rebecca Wood hitting a three-run home run and having four total RBI in game two vs Texas A&M International. That was followed up by Mercedes Salazar getting three hits and a RBI in game three also against Texas A&M International
Bat Power
• Shelby Haskins continues to handle a red hot bat going into this weekend, with a .385 batting average which includes two hoem runs, both stats are among the team leaders Â
• Along with Haskins, Rachel Mobley and Angel Micciulli are swinging the bat well with .375 and .400 averages respectively.
• The power numbers are being brought by Haskins along with Mercedes Salazar who has a home run and two doubles on the year. Rebecca Wood is leading the team in RBI with five.
In the CircleÂ
• The pitching has been consistent with three pitchers getting the workload almost exclusively, led by Brittany Phillips with 20.1 innings pitched followed up by Taylor Sandoval with 17.0 innings pitched and Jade Garbiso with 10.1 innings pitched.
• Phillips and Garbiso are both tied for the team lead in strikeouts with seven apiece.
On the Road Again
• The Grizzlies start the 2019 season with their first 17 games on the road or at a neutral site.
• Adams State plays 37 total games away from Alamosa this season. They play just 16 games at home during the 2019 campaign.
Scouting Regis
• The Rangers are also looking for their first win on the season after dropping the first three games of the year and having the next two games cancelled.
• On offense Carly Beard has far and away been the best hitter for the Rangers in the first three games. She is hitting .667 with a double and two walks.
• The only home run for the Rangers came off the bat of Laura Scheffel against St. Mary's University.
• Pitching for the Rangers has been led by Taylor Armitage with 8.2 IP and 5 SO. Maisie Mortimer is the ERA leader for the Rangers with a miniscule 1.00 ERA in 7.0 innings pitched.
