ALAMOSA, Colo. - Adams State Women's Lacrosse gets the 2019 season started with this weekend with a pair of games against two Colorado schools. The Grizzlies play back-to-back days on Saturday and Sunday.

2019 Season Preview
• The Grizzlies enter a new era in 2019 with a number of new faces on the team along with new bench bosses as well. Leading the team this season are first year coaches
Kate Leavell and
Monica Plut.
• Just three athletes return from the 2018 squad in
Hannah Vigil,
Alexis Wellong, and
Savannah Penland. 14 new players join the Adams State program this season.
• The 2019 RMAC Preseason Coaches Poll has the Grizzlies slated to finish 10th this season. The Grizzlies tallied 10 points in the preseason poll and finished seven points back on ninth place Oklahoma Baptist.
2018 Season In Review
• Adams State posted a 3-10 overall record in 2018 and went 1-8 against RMAC opponents. The Grizzlies lone conference win came against Oklahoma Baptist, 12-5.
• The Grizzlies scored 94 points on on 75 goals along with 19 assists. They posted an overall shot percentage of .359 and finished .746 in shots on goals percentage.
• Adams State three wins on the year came against Westminster College (Mo.), Oklahoma Baptist, and Johnson & Wales.
Last Time Out -Â April 29, 2018 at Westminster College, L 6-21
• In the season finale at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah, Adams State allowed 16 first half goals, but were able to pick up three goals in each half.
• The Grizzlies were much more aggressive with 17 shots, putting 10 on goal in the second half. The team also forced Westminster to let up 20 turnovers.
• Adams State finished the season 1-5 on the road while going 2-5 at home.
Scouting UCCS
• UCCS will begin the 2019 season as the teams third year as a NCAA program. The team is 11-20 overall in two seasons as a Division II program.
• The Mountain Lions received 33 points and were picked seventh in the 2019 RMAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Coaches' Poll.
• UCCS finished the 2018 campaign with 7-10 overall record and a 2-7 mark in RMAC play, finishing eighth overall in the conference standings.
• The Mountain Lions bring back 15 letterwinners from the 2018 season, including 11 of their 12 starters and five All-RMAC athletes.
• Natalie Church headlines the returners as she was named 2018 RMAC Freshman of the Year.
• Madison Ellis, Brianna Martinez, Sydney Malcolm, and Ellie O'Brien were named 2018 RMAC Honorable Mention and will look to make an impact yet again this season.
Scouting Johnson & Wales
• The Wildcats were winless during the 2018 season with a final record of 0-13.
• JWU brings back their top two scorers from a season ago in Ashley Guerrero and Katie Smith. Guerrero finished with 26 points in 2018 while Smith had 14.
• The Wildcats will look to replace their goalkeeper from last season in Madison Herbert. Herbert played all 13 games in net for the team in 2018 and made 11 starts.
• Head Coach Mallory Bahr begins her second season leading the JWU squad.
• The Wildcats will have a combination of youth and experience on the field with 10 underclassmen and seven upperclassmen on the 2019 team.
