Grizzlies Get Conference Play Started on the Road

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Women's Lacrosse hits the road this weekend and into next week as they get set to take on a trio of RMAC opponents.

Opening Draw
• The Grizzlies enter their three-game road trip still in search of their first win of the season. They are 0-3 falling a 19-4 loss at home to Notre Dame College (Ohio).
• All four of Adams State's road games this coming week will be against RMAC opponents.
• The Grizzlies will return home for their next three games following their road trip to the Midwest.

Last Time Out

• The Grizzlies played host to the Falcons of Notre Dame College in their home opener last weekend.
• Adams State played a close game early trailing 2-1, but a mid first half surge helped Notre dame secure the 19-4 road win.
• Four Grizzlies scored in the game in Madison Gerchow, Shelby Nelson, Savannah Penland, and Alexis Wellong.
• Wellong led the way on offense with two points on a goal and an assist. In net, Louisa Sanchez tallied a season-high 16 saves.
 
Plut at the Helm
• Head Coach Monica Plut is in her first season of leading the Adams State Women's Lacrosse program.
• Plut was brought in as an Associate Head Coach in early January but now oversees the entirety of the program.
 
Adams State Breakdown
• Three Grizzlies are tied for the team lead in points going into the weekend. Madison Gerchow and Savannah Penland are tied at two on two goals scored.
Alexis Wellong is also tied in points with two on a goal scored and an assist. Shelby Nelson has the other goal for the Grizzlies.
• Gerchow has taken the most shots for Adams State with 11 total and has .250 shot percentage. Penland is second with eight but has seven shots on goal to lead the team.
Louisa Sanchez has the most groundball pickups for the Grizzlies with eight on the year. Gerchow, Penland, Wellong, and Delanie Ward are all tied for second with three, respectively.
Alecia Begay and Hannah Vigil anchor the defense with three caused turnovers. Sanchez, Gerchow, Penland, and Emily Motz are not behind with two apiece.
• Gerchow has been the vocal point to getting the offense going with 15 draw controls on the season. Penland has also played a role in that category with four.
• In net, Sanchez has started all three games for the Grizzlies. She has notched 39 saves on the season in 139 shots faced and has a .364 save percentage.
 
Scouting Rockhurst
• The Hawks are an even 5-5 overall and 2-1 in RMAC games going into the weekend. They had won four straight games before falling to No. 16 Colorado mesa, 18-2, on March 13.
• Rockhurst's game against Adams State will be the first of a five-game homestand, with the first three all coming against RMAC opponents.
• Four players are in double figure epoints for the Hawks led by Hannah Miller with 31 on the season. She has scored 25 goals and leads the team in assists with six.
• Logan Derosia is the second leading scorer with 30 points on a team-high 29 goals and one assist.
• Marianna Anderson and Audrey ford round out the offense with 29 and 12 points, respectively. Anderson has 28 goals to go with an assist, while Ford's 12 points are all on goals scored.
• Maddi Scheipeter leads the squad in draw controls with 39 so far and has notched 12 groundball pickups.
• Derosia is the team leader in groundball pickups with 25 and is third in draw controls with 26. Anderson is second draw controls with 27 and has 15 groundballs.
• Three players have 20-plus groundball pickups for the Hawks in Hanna Meek with 24, Bunga Spencer with 22, and Molly Dunham with 21.
• Two players anchor the defense for Rockhurst in Spencer and Jaylin Johnson. The duo each have 13 caused turnovers on the year. Ford is not far behind with 11 caused turnovers.
• Three Hawks have all seen action at goalkeeper, but Dunham leads the way with seven starts and nine games played. She has 78 saves and is 4-4 on the year.
 
Scouting Lindenwood
• The Lions are undefeated this season at 7-0 an dare 2-0 in RMAC play. They are ranked No. 4 in the latest IWLCA top-25 rankings.
• Lindenwood has 10-plus goals in six of their seven games this season and they are 1-0 against ranked opponents.
• Seven players are already in double figure scoring with Carly Fedorowski leading the way at 29 points. She has a team-high 20 goals and is tied for the team lead in assists with nine.
• Hailey Gallant is second in points with 26 on 17 goals scored and is tied for the lead in assists with nine on the year.
• Gracie Pine has 16 points (15g, 1a) to sit third, while Paige Sutton is not far behind with 14 points (9g, 5a).
• Abby Hagberg, Sami Smit, and Ellie Faulk round out the double-digit point scorers. Hagberg and Smit each have 12 points, while Faulk has 10.
• Fedorowski's offensive production comes with the help of leading the team in groundball pickups with 27. Gallant and Morgan reader are tied for second with 18 each.
• Federowski also leads the squad in draw controls with 48 on the year. Reader is second with 25, while Faulk rounds out the top three with 13.
• Federowski also anchors the defensive side of the ball with 16 caused turnovers. Reader and Alana Jeronimo are tied for second with 10, respectively.
• Goalkeeper Aly Smith has started all seven game for the Lions. She has 33 saves on the season in 81 shots faced. She is 7-0 and boasts a .485 save percentage.
 
Scouting Oklahoma Baptist
• The Bison sport a 2-2 overall record, but are 0-1 overall going into the weekend. They won their first two games before dropping the next two.
• Oklahoma Baptist will face three RMAC opponents before taking on the Grizzlies.
• Three players have tallied 10-plus points for the Bison this season. Lauren McCormack leads the way with 17 on a team-high 14 goals and three assists.
• Devin Miller  is the second leading points getter with 12 on nine goals and three assists. Taylor Skomp rounds the offense out with 10 points all on goals scored.
• McCormack, Miller, and Shay Morgan are all tied for the team lead in assists with three apiece.
• Madison Gordon leads the squad in groundballs with 24 pickups on the year. McCormack is second with 17, while Skomp is third with 13.
• McCormack leads the defense with eight caused turnovers, while three played are tied for second with six. In the three-way tie are Skomp, Savannah Tompkins, and Katie Kuehn.
• Courtney Barnickle has played in four games at goalkeeper, making three starts. She has 26 saves on the year and 2-2 on the year.

• Adams State will return home for its next three games following its three-game road stint.
• The Grizzlies will get their homestand started Sunday, March 31 against the Griffins of Westminster College. Game time is set for 10 a.m. at the ASU Lacrosse Field.
