Grizzlies Set for Two RMAC Games in Three Days

ALAMOSA, Colo. - Adams State Women's Lacrosse is home once again Friday in a midday tilt against RMAC foe Fort Lewis College before hitting the road to take on Colorado Mesa.

Opening Draw
• The Grizzlies (0-7, 0-3 RMAC) are back home for the second game in as many weeks as RMAC plays winds down to final games of the season.
• Adams State will then travel for its next two games before returning home for the final game of the regular season.
• Prior to postponing their game last Sunday, the Grizzlies played four straight games on the road, with the first three being against RMAC opponents.
• The Grizzlies will hit the road next weekend for the final time as they take on Regis University.
 
Lax-4-Life Campaign
• The Grizzlies will be taking donations at their home game for the Lax-4-Life campaign.
• The Lax-4-Life campaign provides support programs that are geared toward young adult suicide prevention awareness.

• Adams State last played on April 5 against UCCS. The Mountain Lions secure the road win in Alamosa by a final fo 28-0.
• The Grizzlies games against UCCS was their first RMAC home game of the 2019 season and just their second game at home this year.
 
Plut at the Helm
• Head Coach Monica Plut is in her first season of leading the Adams State Women's Lacrosse program.

• Sitting second in points is Madison Gerchow with four. Like Penland, all of her points have come on goals scored.
Alexis Wellong and Shelby Nelson are third and fourth in points with two and one, respectively. Wellong has a goals scored and an assist, while Nelson has a goal scored.
• Goalkeeper Louisa Sanchez has the most groundball pickups with 18 entering the weekend.
Tara Sowards is second in groundballs with eight on the year.
• Penland third in groundballs with seven.
• Penland leads the defensive unit in caused turnovers with seven. Jazmine Palacios is second with four.
• Tied for third in caused turnovers is Sowards, Gerchow, Alecia Begay, Emily Motz, and Hannah Vigil.
• Gerchow is the team leader in draw controls with 31. Penland is second with 17.
• In net, Sanchez has notched 100 saves for the season. She has a .352 save percentage entering the weekend.
 
Scouting Fort Lewis College
• The Skyhawks are 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the RMAC entering the weekend.
• As a unit, Fort Lewis has totaled 66 points on 48 goals and 18 assists.
• Abby Escandon leads the team in points with 17 on seven goals and a team-high 10 assists.
• Rachel Hurst is second with 11 points on eight goals scored and three assists.
• Delany Benson rounds out the double-digit points with 10. She has a team-high nine goals and one assist.
• Five players have double figure groundballs. Daris Wienk has the most with 19. Aitana Rivera is second with 16.
• Rivera is the team leader in caused turnovers with 10. Hurst is second with nine.
• Ann Nelson leads the way in draw controls with 17. Hurst is second at 1, while Mia White is third with 10.
• In net, Wienk has 69 saves on the year and sports a .442 save percentage.
 
Scouting Colorado Mesa
• The Mavericks enter the weekend 10-2 overall, 4-2 in the RMAC, and ranked No. 14 in the latest set of the IWLCA top-25 poll.
• CMU is coming off a 23-10 loss against then No. 10 Regis University back on April 6.
• Paige Elliott is the team's leading scorer at 55 points on 12 goals and a team-high 43 assists.
• Olivia Hayden is second in points on a team-high 40 goals scored and 11 assists.
• Hayden leads the Mavericks in groundballs with 62. Erin Koehler is second with 60.
• Both Hayden and Koehler are tied for the team lead in caused turnovers with 46, respectively.
• Hayden also has the most draw controls this season for CMU with 110.
• Goalkeeper Lula Mitchell has the most saves for CMU with 53 and is 8-1 on the year.
