Grizzlies Take On Griffins and ThunderWolves in Final Games of 2019

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Women's Lacrosse is on the road for one more game before returning home for the final time for the 2019 season.

Opening Draw
• The Grizzlies (0-11, 0-7 RMAC) will play a makeup game in a neutral site setup on Thursday before returning home for Senior Day on Saturday.
• Adams State was originally set to play Westminster College back on March 31 at home but heavy snowfall forced the game to be postponed.
• The Grizzlies will look to play spoiler against their two opponents this week. The Griffins need just one win to get into the RMAC Tournament.
• Adams State's home contest against CSU-Pueblo will be the final game of the 2019 campaign.

Last Time Out

• Adams State fell to No. 4-ranked Regis last Saturday in the road, 21-1.
• The Grizzlies were tied with the Rangers 1-1 early on but the Rangers were the better of the two the rest of the way.
 
Plut at the Helm
• Head Coach Monica Plut is in her first season of leading the Adams State Women's Lacrosse program.
• Plut was brought in as an Associate Head Coach in early January but now oversees the entirety of the program.

• The Grizzlies offense continues to be led by Savannah Penland who has a seven points on the year all from goals scored.
Madison Gerchow ranks second in scoring with four goals and one assist for five points on the year.
Alexis Wellong still sits third for the offense with a goal scored and one assist for two points.
Louisa Sanchez is the team leader in groundball pickups with 24 on the year from the goalie position.
Delanie Ward is second in groundballs with 12. Tara Sowards is right behind her with 11. Penland and Gerchow are tied for fourth with 10 apiece.
• Penland is the defensive leader in caused turnovers with seven. Four players are tied at second with five in Sanchez, Sowards, Gerchow, and Emily Motz.
• Gerchow is the team leader in draw controls with 43 on the season. Penland is third with 23. Esperanza Reyes is third with four.
• In net, Sanchez has 118 saves this season. She has a .330 save percentage in 442 shots faced this year.
 
Scouting Westminster College
• The Griffins are 3-8 overall and 3-4 in RMAC play entering their final two games of the year. They need just one win to secure a berth in the RMAC Tournament.
• Madie Ingman is the team's leading scorer with 19 goals to go along with six assists for a team-high 25 points.
• Eden Freiberg is second in points with 20 on 12 goals scored and eight assists. Katie Hendershott is third with 18 points on nine goals and a team-high nine assists.
• Two more players round out the double-digit point setup. Lauren Shougro (16g, 1a) has 17, while Audree Erkson (9g, 2a) has 11.
• Mikala Davis has the most groundballs with 48 on the year. Allie McNeil has 11 entering the weekend to sit second.
• Three players are tied for third in groundball pickups with 21 in Ingman, Daisy Mele, and Anna Waddoups.
• Waddoups is the anchor on defense with 13 caused turnovers on the year. McNeill is second with 12, while Mele and Kenna Tychsen are tied for third at 10 each.
• Erekson leads the way in draw controls with 27 on the year. McNeill is second with 21 and Shoughro is third with 17.
• Mikala Davis has played every game at goalie for Westminster. She has 110 saves on the year and sports a .426 save percentage.
 
Scouting CSU-Pueblo
• The ThunderWolves are 5-8 overall and 2-5 in RMAC play entering the weekend.
• CSU-Pueblo is coming off a forfeit win for Senior Day against Fort Lewis College this past weekend.
• Allison Wurscher is the leader in points with 36 on 19 goals and a team high 17 assists.
• Taylor Christensen is second in points with 32. She has a team-high 27 goals and five assists.
• Emily Eller is the third leading points player with 22. She has 20 goals and two assists on the year.
• Christensen is the leader in groundballs with 37 on the year. Britney Smith sits second 30.
• Emily Brewer and Ane Marie Horton are tied at third for groundballs with 27 each, respectively.
• Christensen also has the most caused turnovers with 26 this season. Emily Brewer is second with 11.
• Christensen also owns the top spot in draw controls with 53. Olivia Tener is second with 31.
• In net, Horton has notched 125 saves on the year and boasts a .446 save percentage.
