Grizzlies on the Road for Final Regular Season Series

ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Softball plays their final four games of the 2019 regular season in Colorado Springs.
 
OPPONENT: University of Colorado Colorado Springs (23-24, 19-16 RMAC)
 
WHEN: Friday, April 26 (DH) – 12 & 2 p.m.
             Saturday, April 27 (DH) – 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.

Leading Off
• The Grizzlies (12-33, 12-21 RMAC) are coming of split series against Regis University, where the Grizzlies took two big wins.
• Adams State have won the last five of their eight games.
• This is the final series for the Grizzlies of the 2019 regular season.
• Adams State is currently ranked eighth in the RMAC standings, behind Regis and in front of CSU-Pueblo. The Grizzlies need to rack up a few wins this weekend to ensure their spot in the tournament.
 
Quick Hits
Last Time Out
• The Grizzlies split with the Regis Rangers 2-2
• On day one, Adams State fell in game one, 2-5. But they came back victorious in game two, shutting the Rangers out 8-0 in six innings.
• The Grizzlies continued to battle in day two, falling in game one 2-7, and bouncing back with a walk-off grand-slam to win 11-10!

Grizzlies on the Bats
• Four Grizzlies are batting over .300: Brittany Phillips, Shelby Haskins, Sarah Rocha and Baylie Fryar.
• Phillips has the top mark for the Grizzlies with a .359 batting average. She is 37-103 with 18 RBI, four homers, and 15 runs scored.
• Haskins is right behind Phillips with a .316 average with 30 hits. She is now leading the Grizzlies with 23 RBI and five homeruns.
• Rocha is the third leading hitter with a .309 average, 29 hits, and 16 RBI. Fryar has improved her average to .302, with her 26 hits.
• Rounding out the top hitters are Zoe Munn and Angel Micculli with averages of .299 and .295, respectively.
• Munn is tied with Rocha in the third most RBI, 16, and is tied for second with nine doubles.
• Micciulli is leading the team in doubles this year with 10. She has the fifth most hits on the team with 28 and is leading the team in walks, 27. Micciulli has one of the highest OPS with .934.
Samantha McDonald is another key to the Grizzly line up, batting .287, with 29 hits and has been successful in 17 of 20 stolen bases.
 
Inside the Circle
• Brittany Phillips, Jade Garbiso, and Taylor Sandoval all continue to work hard, as the three main pitchers for the Grizzlies.
• Garbiso (5-15) leads the unit with the a 6.67 ERA and has 50 strikeouts in her 107 innings of work.
• Phillips (5-12) is second in both innings pitched and strikeouts. She has seated 34 batters in her 98.1 innings of work, while maintaining an ERA of 6.62.
• Sandoval has appeared in 25 games for the Grizzlies. She's struck out 14 batters in her 63 innings pitched.
 
Road Warriors
• The Grizzlies started the 2019 campaign with their first 17 games away from Alamosa.
• Adams State plays 37 total games away from Alamosa this season.
• On the road for their final four games, they are finishing the season as they started.
 
There's No Place Like Home
• The Grizzlies are at home for just 16 games during the 2019 campaign.
• Adams State has had success on its home turf as the team has finished above .500 in seven of the last nine seasons since the turn of the decade.
• The Grizzlies have racked up 11 wins at home in each of the last two seasons.
• Since the 2010 season, Adams State is 104-80 on their home field.
 
Scouting UC-Colorado Springs
• The Mountain Lions are 23-24 overall and 19-16 in RMAC play entering the weekend. They are coming off a 3-1 series loss against Colorado Mesa University this past weekend.
• In the past two years, the Grizzlies have seen the Mountain Lions nine times. The Grizzlies have come out on top 5-4.
• Four players lead the bats with averages over .300. As a team, the Mountain Lions bat .295 on average.
• Peyton Reisman has the top batting average for the Mountain Lions, batting .377 in her 114 plate appearances. She has racked up 43 hits with 19 RBI and two homeruns.
• Rayle Glover is batting .373 and leading the Mountain Lions with 10 homeruns and 34 RBI.
• The RBI team leader is Melissa Martinek with 38 RBI, eight homeruns, and 55 hits on her 142 at bats. She has the third best batting average on the team with .369.
• With 150 plate appearances, Alex Cook is satting .320 with 48 hits, 32 RBI and has score 29 runs.
• In the circle, the Mountain Lions have two very strong pitchers, Taylor Reidhead and Braelyne Crenshaw. Both have appeared in over 25 games, and have worked over 90 innings. Crenshaw has a winning record of 8-7 with a 4.38 ERA, and has struck out 44 in her 94.1 innings pitched. Reidhead has a 4.45 ERA and has sat down 112 batters in her 118 innings of work.

• The Grizzlies have a very good chance to make the RMAC tournament. If they perform well this weekend, they will potentially play next Thursday, May 2.
