Box Score 4 DURANGO, Colo. – Adams State Women's Volleyball split their weekend full of double headers in Durango at the Skyhawk Classic. The Grizzlies took one from Western New Mexico Friday and one from Texas A&M International Saturday.
Day 1: Friday, Sept. 13.
The Grizzlies had a great open to their weekend winning game one against the Western New Mexico Mustangs 3-0. Adams State had a very tight set one, going back and forth with the Mustangs tying the score 14 times throughout the set. The Grizzlies went on an 11-4 run to close the set with a W 25-17.
The second set was even closer between the two teams. Adams State received the first point and started off with an early lead 7-3. The Mustangs had a big comeback tying it up at 8. The score was tied a total of 11 times throughout the set. Tied at 24, Adams State pulled away with the next two points to get the win 26-24.
The third set was a little more comfortable for the Grizzlies, only being tied seven times throughout the beginning of the match. After going back and forth, and tying at 7, the Grizzlies went on a 17-11 run to close the game 25-18.
Big names for the first match were Riley Ogleive with 11 kills,
Alexandra MacAskill also with 11 kills, one ace, and 4 blocks, and
Bailey Schlosser with 22 assists and 8 digs.
Hannah Goddard was also a top player for the Grizzlies with 7 kills, 1 ace, 2 blocks, and 10 digs.
The Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M came out on top in game two of Friday's double header. The Grizzlies fell 3-0. The Lady Buff came out swinging and took the first set 25-14. Adams State came back in the second set, narrowing the margin to seven, falling 25-18. West Texas A&M finished the third set 25-13.

Shannon Mulkey with 6 kills and 2 blocks,
Grecia Diaz Martinez with 6 kills, 1 ace, and 2 blocks, and Goddard with 5 kills and 7 digs. Also a highlight player for Adams State was
Maya Waddington with 12 assists, 8 digs and 1 ace.
Day 2: Saturday, Sept. 14
Adams State came out for day two ready to play getting a big 3-1 win over Texas A&M International. The first set was a nail bitter going back and forth throughout the entire set. The Grizzlies and Dust Devils tied the game 12 time throughout the set, not giving more than a three-point lead either way. Tied at 20, the Dust Devils pulled away going on a 5-2 run to close set one at 25-22.
Adams State bounced back and dominate the next three sets. The two teams played very close at the beginning of the second set, but Adams State pulled away on a 13-5 run. The Grizzlies led the remainder of the set, closing the game at 25-16.
The third set also began with a close start. Going back and forth throughout the single digit points, the Dust Devils and Grizzlies tied up at 10. Adams State ran away on a 10-5 rally giving them a 10-point advantage. The Grizzlies finished with a 14-point margin 25-11.
The Grizzlies finished the match in the fourth set. As the two teams were tied at 6, Adams State pulled away on an 8-2 run giving them momentum to get the big win 25-18.
Adams State had 42 kills on the match, 13 from Oglevie, 11 from Mulkey, and 10 from Goddard.
Mackenzie Swanson, Waddington, and Diaz each had a pair of aces. The play maker of the game was
Bailey Schlosser with 36 assists and 12 digs.
Adams State had a great start to game two against Washburn University. The Grizzlies led almost the entirety of the first set. The Ichabods went on a 7-0 run to win the first set 25-22. The Grizzlies had a similar second set, keeping the score within three to four points. Washburn ran away with another 6-0 run to close set two 25-17. Again, keeping set three close, the Ichabods capitalized towards the end with a 5-0 run to win 25-17.
Goddard and Mulkey again were leaders for the Grizzlies, Goddard with 10 kills and Mulkey with 8 blocks.
Amaya Young was right behind them with 9 kills and 4 blocks. Ogleive joined in with 6 kills and 3 blocks. Schlosser led with 15 assists, and following was

The Grizzlies closed out a positive weekend in Durango and will be on the road again next week. Adams State will head to Chadron, Neb. Friday, Sept. 20 to take on the Chadron State Eagles at 7 p.m. They will then head to Denver, Colo. to face the Metro State Roadrunners Saturday, Sept. 21 at 5 p.m.
