ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies Men's Basketball team hits the road this weekend for two conference games against Northern Colorado schools Regis and Colorado Christian. The Grizzlies are coming off of perhaps their best victory of the season last Saturday, as they took down the 19
th-ranked Dixie State Trailblazers at home. The Grizzlies hope that they can build off of the monumental win, and get the momentum they need to propel them into the postseason.
For the time being, the Grizzlies control their own destiny down the stretch, but will have to go on the road and take down tough opponents to climb their way up the RMAC standings. This weekend against Regis and CCU, the Grizzlies hope to finally get their first conference road victories of the season.
Two weeks ago at home, the Grizzlies faced off against the Rangers and lost a lackluster game at home 94-99, in a game that came down to the final few possessions that they were ultimately unable to capitalize on. Being down big early in the game, the Grizzlies had to force their way back into the game, so they hope that Friday they can get off to a better start than they did on January 25
th, and come away with the victory.
The Grizzlies are looking for the season sweep of the Cougars when they square up with Colorado Christian on Saturday. The Grizzlies beat CCU easily back on January 24
th at Plachy Hall, and hope to repeat the same success on Saturday. Guard play of
Szymon Walczak,
Juwan Green and
Rylan O'brien has been sensational as of late, as the trio has generated plenty of offense for the Grizzlies in recent games.
The main concern for the Grizzlies going into this weekend is if their undersized post players will be able to limit big man scoring on both teams. Colorado Christian's Spencer Hoffman had 30 points against the Grizzlies in their last meeting, and a night later, Regis' Toni Rocak put up a 30 spot of his own in what was ultimately the difference in their win.
Rickey Norris,
Kaelin Crane and
Nana Appiah will have their hands full as they lack the size advantage, but hopefully
Russ Caton's team will make the adjustments necessary to not let the front court scoring be as big of a factor this time around.
Tip off from Regis tomorrow night is set for 7 PM with game time for Saturday night's game against Colorado Christian also set for 7 the following night. Live stats and stream will be provided by the away sports information department.
