BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—The Adams State Grizzlies Men's and Women's Track & Field had some impressive performances on day one of NCAA Division II National Championship meet at the Birmingham Crossplex.
After the first full day of competition, the ASU men sit in a tie for 27th place with three points while the women are in a tie for 32nd place with two points.
Advancing to the finals in the men's 200-meter competing in his first national meet was the phenomenal
Jonah Vigil as he advances with the seventh place a time of 21.82.
In the men's mile
Ahmed Sado advanced to the finals placing seventh with a time of 4:07.47.
David Cardenas also competed as he placed 12
th with a time of 4:11:18, followed by
Andrew O'Keefe in 14th as he posted a time of 4:15.27.
Earning All-America honors was the men's distance medley relay who placed sixth with a time of 9:51.45. The relay consisted of
Alec Hall,
Jonah Vigil,
David Cardenas, and
Carson Bix.
On the women's side
Stephanie Cotter posted a time of 4:51.59 to advance advances to the finals in the mile with the second best time.
Brianna Robles honored her first NCAA Championship Meet debut with an All-America honor placing seventh place as she posted a time of 16:51.24.
The Grizzles will be back in action tomorrow kicking off with the final for the men's mile, followed by the final for the men's 200-meter, the men's 3,000 meter, and the final of the women's mile.
