PUEBLO, Colo.—The Adams State men and women's Track & Field team kicked off day one of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) in the Outdoor Track & Field Championships this weekend in Pueblo, Colorado, at the at the Neta and Eddie DeRose ThunderBowl on the campus of Colorado State University Pueblo.
Justin Andrade got the Grizzlies off to a good start has he had a stellar performance in the men's 10,000-meters as he set the place early on. Andrade had a strong finished has he medal and placed third with a final time of 31.20.94 to earn the team's only six points. The Grizzlies sit in seventh in the team race.
In the men's 1,500-meter prelims there was an outstanding performance by
Alec Hall as he set an all-new RMAC Meet record with a final time of 3:48.52, earning the first position to advance to finals.
Ahmed Sado finished strong as he posted a time of 3:49.14, ranked second going in finals.
Andrew O'Keefe stuck with the pack and ran a final time of 3:51.11 as he is in fourth, followed by
Davonte Jett-Reynolds finishing with a final time of 3:51.81 as he is in eighth, and Mikah Paiz ran a time of 3:52.08 earned the last spot into finals. Each of these men placed in the top twelve, advancing to finals on Sunday.
Advancing to finals in the women's 1,500-meters is Stephine Cotter as she is going into finals seeded first with a final time of 4:29.60, followed by Emma Wern who is in third as she posted a time of 4:32.58.
Morgan Hykes advanced to the finals as well, as she posted a final time of 4:40.24 and will be going into final seeded in eighth.
In the men's 400-meters
Jonah Vigil effortlessly advances to finals as he is seeded in second with a time of 48.39, followed by
Godfrey Chama as he is seeded sixth as he ran a final time of 49.19.
Keilin Jones also competed in this event posting a final time of 49.73.
Jessica Simons competed in the women's 400-meters as she posted a final time of 59.57.
The Grizzlies who competed in the men's 400-meter hurdles prelims is Jordan spencer as he ran an impressive race earning the seventh spot to advance to the finals with a time of 55.27, followed by
Neveh Jones who will be going into finals seeded eighth with as he ran a final time of 56.00. On the women's side the lone Grizzly
Kaitlyn Kelley competed in the women's 400-meter hurdles as she posted a final time of 1:10.51.
In the field events
Caelyn Gomez competed in the women's long jump as she jumped a final mark of 5.29 meters. In the men's long jump
Camwrin Harris competed in this event as he jumped 6.82 meters.
In the men's hammer throw
John Hochanadel placed 10
th as he threw 47.68-meters.
George Galaviz threw 42.71-meters, followed by
Jordan Larson as he threw 40.30-meters as they also competed in this event.
The Grizzlies will be back in action tomorrow competing in the men's discus throw, the men and women's 3000-meter steeplechase, men's 110-meter hurdles, men and women's 200-meter, and the men and women's 800-meter.
