ALLENDALE, Mich.—The 2021 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships continued on Friday at the Grand Valley State Track & Field Stadium with senior Eilish Flanagan capturing the 3,000-meter steeplechase title.
 
The Grizzlies then had three representatives in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and just weeks after breaking a three-year NCAA Division II record, Flanagan wowed all that were in attendance by taking the race from the start. She paced her away around the course and finished with a time of 9:57.44, 19.44 seconds faster than second place.
 
Senior HaLeigh Hunter-Galvan finished in third place to earn All-America honors as she finished in a time of 10:21.81.  Senior Sarah Wills also earned All-America honors as she finished in seventh place with a time of 10:30.99. In the event, the Grizzlies scored 18 team points.
 
The first event of the day was the 200-meter preliminaries and for freshman Jonah Vigil it was a successful race as he finished fifth in the second heat and seventh overall to advance to Saturday's final. His time of 21.31. He will race for the championship on Saturday at 1:20 p.m.
 
The first men's final race of the weekend for the Grizzlies was the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman Ahmed Sado earned an All-America honor as he finished in sixth place in the race with a time of 8:56.32.
 
After the second day of the meet, the Adams State men hit the scoreboard and sit in 26th place with three points.
 
For the women, they sit in fourth place with 22 points. Azuza Pacific leads the team battle with 33 points.
 
Adams State will have a busy Saturday. James Dunne and Alec Hall will open up the action at 11:20 a.m. in the men's 1,500-meter.
