Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CANYON, Texas –The Adams State University Grizzlies had an early start to the weekend on Friday as they fell in two games at the 2022 WT Invitational, hosted by No. 5 West Texas A&M University. The Grizzlies rallied for four runs in the fifth inning but could not hold the University of Texas-Permian Basin Falcons at bay as they fell, 12-8, before falling to the WTAMU Buffaloes, 10-9.
 
GAME 1: University of Texas-Permian Basin 12, Adams State 8
The game saw the Falcons score the first two runs of the game the unearned way before Adams State scored three earned runs in the top of the third.
 
UTPB than scored single runs in the bottom of the third and bottom of the fourth to take a 5-3 lead before the Grizzlies used two triples, one from Breck Smith and one from Sydney Muniz, en route to a four-run top of the fifth inning to make the score 7-5.
 
UTPB then countered with four runs of their own in the bottom of the inning on three hits and one error, including a three-run blast off the top of the scoreboard in dead center field, to make the score 9-7. The Falcons capitalized on an error to extend the lead to 12-7.
 
The Grizzlies capitalized on an error in the seventh inning before falling 12-8.
 
In the game, the Grizzlies stranded nine runners on the base paths as they had eight hits and the Falcons had four fielding errors.
 
GAME 2: #5 West Texas A&M 8, Adams State 0 (5 inn.)
In the second game, the host West Texas A&M University Lady Buffs opened the game as the visitors on the scoreboard and they controlled action from the opening pitch. They scored five runs in the top of the first inning thanks in part to a grand slam.
 
The Lady Buffs than added an addition run in the top of the third, and another in the top of the fourth and fifth to wrap up the game.

The Grizzlies will return back to action on Saturday when they play UTPB once again and Texas A&M University.
