PORTALES, N.M.--The Grizzlies finished their series in Portales, New Mexico with a nine-inning game against Eastern New Mexico.
Game 1: Greyhounds 9- Grizzlies 7
The Grizzlies jumped on top first with a solo homerun by
Matt Bathauer in the top of the first inning. The Grizzlies then gave up a two-run homerun in the bottom of the first inning and then three more runs in the bottom of the second. The Grizzlies took the lead in the top of the fifth inning scoring five runs behind doubles by Cedric Reynaud,
Matt Bathauer, and
Chase Dixon.
The Greyhounds tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo homerun. Â The Greyhounds scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Grizzlies responded in the top of the eighth with a run.
Matt Bathauer led the Grizzlies with three hits and three runs batted in.
On the mound, the Grizzlies started southpaw
Jamison Fuentes. He gave up five runs with three strikeouts.
Cesar Loma was handed the loss for the Grizzlies but recorded seven strikeouts in four and a third inning.
