DENVER – Regis University used 18 points from Brian Dawson and 16 more from Will Cranston to beat Adams State 80-67 on Regis' floor Feb. 26. It was the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Grizzlies slipped to 12-16 overall, 8-14 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference and that is where they will end their season. Regis moved to 18-9 overall and 13-8 in conference play.
Adams State's top scorer was Rylan O'brien, who had 21 points, which included three baskets from 3-point range.
Jordan Notch had 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Kaelin Crane scored 15 points. Regis also picked up 12 points from Ilisia Washington.
Both teams shot 50 percent from the floor, and each team made six baskets from 3-point range. The Grizzlies outrebounded Regis 39-25. The difference was turnovers. ASU turned the ball over 29 times to Regis' 11. RU turned those mistakes into 33 points. The Grizzlies scored just seven points off Regis' turnovers.
