DENVER, Colo.—A ninth-inning rally for the Adams State University baseball team was spoiled by a walk-off by the host Regis Rangers on Friday afternoon. The Grizzlies returned to action after a bye week and dropped a hard-fought game, 5-4.
The Grizzlies sent out their ace
Alfredo Villa for the first game of series. He threw seven innings giving up three runs, two in the third and one in the fourth inning with two strikeouts and two walks. The Rangers scored one run in the bottom of the seventh to take a 4-0 heading into the ninth inning.
The Grizzly bats finally woke up and behind four free passes, two hits and a sacrifice fly. Cedric Reynaud had a single to score two runs,
Matt Bathauer had a sac fly and
Orlando Romero tied the game with a single. The Grizzlies give up a walk off single to end the game.
Anthony Bleggi was handed the loss for the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies will continue their series against Regis University with a nine inning game starting at 2:30 pm.
