GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Grizzlies finished up the first weekend of conference play with a nine-inning game against Colorado Mesa University Mavericks and despite leading for most of the game, the Grizzlies fell to the Mavericks, 20-8.
Game 1: Colorado Mesa 20, Adams State 8
The Grizzlies scored first with a single by
Orlando Romero that plated a run in the top of the first inning. The Mavericks answered with a two run home run in the bottom of the second inning.
The Grizzlies retook the lead in the top of the third inning with two singles by
Brody Bettis and Nathan Heild which both plated a run. Romero had another single that plated a run in the top of the fourth inning. The Mavericks responded by plating two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Grizzlies then put up three runs in the top of the fifth inning with singles by
Matt Bathauer and
Chase Hiatt. The Mavericks then heated up scoring fifteen unanswered runs.
The Grizzlies started southpaw
Jamison Fuentes. He threw four innings giving up four runs with three strikeouts and two walks.
Anthony Bleggi was handed the loss for the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies will have a bye week before they are back in action. They will take a trip of to Denver, Colorado for a four-game series against Regis University.
