ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Grizzlies started their series against University of Colorado-Colorado Springs on Saturday. Due to the wind in Alamosa yesterday that caused a severe dust storm, the Grizzlies played a nine-inning game and a seven-inning game on Saturday and Sunday.
Game 1: UCCS 12, Adams State 11
The Grizzlies started off the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Mountain Lions responded with a run in the top half of the second inning.
Jace Wytulka singled to score
Orlando Romero in the bottom of the second inning.
Mike Bathauer singled to score Cedric Reynaud in the bottom of the third inning. The Mountain Lions then came alive with eight runs in the top of the five inning which included a grand slam and a two-run home run. The Grizzlies responded with a single by
Mike Bathauer to
Matt Bathauer in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Mountain Lions then scored two more runs in the top of the seventh inning. The Grizzlies scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning with a two-run homerun by
Matt Bathauer and a sacrifice fly by
Chris Gracia.
The Mountains added onto their lead with two runs in the top of the ninth inning. In the bottom of the ninth,
Thomas Lyall platted
Jace Wytulka and
Orlando Romero with a double down the right field line.
Matt Bathauer then singled to plate two more runs. Cedric Reynaud grounded out to score another run which brought the tying run to third and the winning run on second. The Grizzlies ended up falling short,
The Grizzlies started right-handed pitcher
Cutter Smith. He was handed the loss for the Grizzlies bringing his recorded to 1-6/ He threw five innings giving up eight runs, walking four, and striking out two.
Game 2: Adams State 6, UCCS 2
The Grizzlies started off right there they left off putting up three runs in the bottom of the first inning with a single by Cedric Reynaud to plate
Ryan Downs and a single by
Brody Bettis to plate Cedric Reynaud and
Matt Bathauer.
The Mountains Lions scored a single run in the top of the second inning with a solo home run. The Grizzlies responded with two runs in the bottom half of the second which included a single by
Matt Bathauer to plate Gunnar Martinez and a sacrifice fly by Cedric Reynaud to plate
Chase Dixon. The Grizzlies added onto their lead with a solo homerun by
Ryan Downs in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Mountains then scored a run in the top of the fifth inning.
The Grizzlies started their ace
Alfredo Villa. He got the win for the Grizzlies bringing his record to 6-3. He threw another complete game giving up two runs, with zero walks and seven innings.
