GOLDEN, Colo. -- The Grizzlies started their series against Colorado School of Mines today. Due to the wind in Golden yesterday, the Grizzlies will play a nine-inning game and a seven-inning game on Saturday and Sunday. Alfredo Villa posted his eighth career complete game with a 9-1 win.
Game 1: Orediggers 22 Grizzlies 9
The Grizzlies started off the game with a two-run homerun to left field by
Mike Bathauer. The Orediggers responded with four runs in the bottom of the first innings, two runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning.
The Grizzlies then platted three runs in the top of the fourth inning with a single by
Matt Bathauer to score Tommy Lyall and a two-run single by
Mike Bathauer to plate Ryan downs and
Chase Dixon. The Orediggers then responded with seven runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Grizzlies scored a run in the top of the eighth inning with
Landon Faber got hit with the bases loaded. The Orediggers put up two more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Chris Gracia singled to left field to plate two runs for the Grizzlies in the top of the ninth.
The Grizzlies started right-handed pitch
Cesar Loma. He was handed the loss for the Grizzlies bringing his record to 0-10. He threw two innings giving up seven runs, with three walks and a strikeout.
Game 2: Grizzlies 9, Orediggers 1
Game Two featured two of the best pitchers in the RMAC. The Grizzlies started right-handed pitcher
Alfredo Villa and Colorado School of Mines started Tyler Blomster.
The Grizzlies were locked in a pitching duel early.
The Orediggers just on the board first with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Grizzlies then got hot on offense with eight runs in the top of the fifth inning. It started with a single by
Matt Bathauer to plate
Chase Dixon. Then Cedric Reynaud doubled to scored
Chris Gracia followed with a two run double by
Orlando Romero to score Cedric Reynaud and
Matt Bathauer.
Tommy Lyall then grounded out to second to plate
Mike Bathauer.
Landon Faber then hit a two-run double to score
Brody Bettis and
Orlando Romero. The Grizzlies added onto their lead with a run in the top of the sixth inning.
Alfredo Villa gets the win for the Grizzlies throwing another complete game bringing his record to 6-3. He recorded ten strikeouts, with two walks, and one run on three hits. He made Adams State University history with the most complete games in his career.
