It was at the other hospital where he was quickly diagnosed. The medical professionals went into action, managing to stabilize him and perform a needed surgery. Martinez is now stable and the prognosis is good, although his recovery will be protracted. During this time, Martinez will not be able to return to work.
Since the event, Martinez has gotten better but has developed blood clots in both his arms and legs prompting doctors to put him on strong blood thinners. When he had his MRI it showed little progress but no further damage and he has started physical therapy to address the swelling. In an update provided on Monday morning, Martinez has had a drain removed but they he did have pneumonia.
With this medical event, though, Martinez will not be able to work. This will greatly impact finances in the Martinez household. Because Martinez had recently started with a new employer, Mike Ward Automotive, Luxury Vehicles in Colorado, he will not be eligible for family leave.
Claudia, Martinez's wife, noted that she is anticipating "the long game," and expects that Aucencio's recovery times will be tough. She knows that there are always unexpected expenses, and especially with two emergency trips to the hospital, and the loss of Aucencio's income, the family's financial situation will weigh on her mind.
Friends of Martinez have set up the GoFundMe that will be donated directly to the family that include Martinez, Claudia and their three children.
