ODESSA, Texas – Texas Permian Basin used second-half goals from Jakob Beschel, Leonardo Bonelli and Alberto Romano to pull away from Adams State and pick up a 5-1 win on Saturday afternoon.

Avery Richards managed to avoid a second straight shutout for the Grizzlies with his unassisted goal in the 83rd minute. ASU, which fired off 10 shotsm, six of which were on goal, fell to 0-2. Permian goalkeeper Kristian Hovind made five saves.
UTP, which got goals from Gustavo Barroso and Emiliano Cardona in the first half, improved to 1-0-1. The Panthers had 19 shots in the match. Eight were on goal. ASU goalkeeper
Zach Carr made three saves in 76 minutes of play.
It was a physical contest. The two teams were whistled for 27 fouls, and five yellow cards were handed out.
The Grizzlies will try it again at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, when ASU travels to Durango to face Fort Lewis College. After a week off, ASU, visits Lakewood to face Colorado Christian at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9. Adams State's home opener isn't until Sunday, Sept. 11, against Metropolitan State University of Denver.
