Box Score 2 DURANGO, Colo. – Breaking out for two runs in two innings was an accomplishment for the Adams State University Softball team here at Aspen Field on Sunday afternoon as the Grizzlies salvaged the finale 5-3.
Game 1: Fort Lewis 7, Adams State 6
Finding themselves down 7-3 entering the seventh inning, the Grizzlies were able to push three runs across the plate however, their comeback attempt came up short, 7-6.
The Grizzlies jumped on board in the second inning when Kiah Bradford doubled to right center before scoring another run when
Ali Davis singled up the middle to make the score 2-0.
The Skyhawks scored two runs in the third to tie the game at 2-2 before
Belinda Vargas gave Adams State a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning.
The Skyhawks took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning before the three insurance runs crossed the plate in the sixth.
The Grizzlies got their six runs on 13 offensive hits and three defensive errors committed by Fort Lewis.
Game 2: Adams State 5, Fort Lewis 3
The second game saw Fort Lewis score first with a double before Bradford tied the game at one in the third inning with a single to left center.
After allowing Fort Lewis to break the tie in the bottom of the third inning, Vargas nailed a two-run homer to left center to give the Grizzlies a 3-2 lead going to the bottom of the fifth.
A defensive error allowed the Skyhawks to tie the game at three in the fifth inning. The Grizzlies were able to score two runs on an error in the top of the sixth to close out the game.

The Grizzlies will close out the home portion of the season next Friday and Saturday when they host the Regis Rangers.
