Box Score 2 Alamosa, Colo. - The Adams State Softball team played their first doubleheader of a four game series versus MSU Denver on Thursday. The first game came down to the wire with the Grizzlies scoring 4 runs in 7th inning; however, the final score ended in favor of MSU Denver 6-5. The second game in the series ended after 5 innings in favor of the Roadrunners 22-7.
Game 1 - MSU Denver 6, Adams State 5
Through 3 innings the game remained scoreless, it wasn't until the top of the 4th inning that the Roadrunners got the sticks moving, scoring 2 runs. The Grizzlies were unable to answer until the bottom of the 6th inning, scoring 1 run, but that was only after MSU Denver scored 4 more in the top of 6th inning. The Grizzlies then held the Roadrunners in the 7th inning and fought back with 4 runs of their own; however, Adams State came up just short and the game ended 6-5.
The Grizzlies had 5 runs on 10 hits from 30 at bats compared to MSU's 6 runs on 4 hits and 28 at bats.
Game 2 - MSU Denver 22, Adams State 7
The Roadrunners came out swinging, scoring 4 runs in the 1st inning. The Grizzlies answered with 2 runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st inning, but then in the 2nd and 3rd innings MSU Denver continued, scoring 4 more runs, while the Grizzlies were unable to answer in the bottom of these innings. Over the final 2 innings the Roadrunners outscored the Grizzlies 14-5 and the final score ended in favor of MSU 22-7.
The Grizzlies had 7 runs on 9 hits from 24 at bats compared to MSU's 22 runs on 16 hits from 31 at bats.
