Pueblo, Colo.— Over the weekend, the Grizzlies put forth an impressive display of determination and skill at the Chuck Haering Classic.
In the Men's 5000m event,
Kailer Smith demonstrated his endurance, finishing in 6th place with a commendable time of 15:21.55.
Meanwhile, in the Men's 3k steeplechase,
Elijah De La Cerda claimed 2nd place, clocking in at 9:33.80, closely followed by
Zak Beckwith in 3rd place with a time of 9:37.81.
Mitchell Dervin secured 4th place with a time of 9:46.39, while
Tyman Smart finished 12th at 10:13.30.
In the Men's 1500m race, Nathan Scherbarth secured an impressive 5th place with a time of 3:55.64. Following closely behind, Emil Bezeckny finished in 12th place, crossing the finish line with a time of 4:00.68.
Carmelo Corral demonstrated determination as he claimed the 19th position with a time of 4:06.23.
Micah Swann put forth a commendable effort, finishing in 28th place with a time of 4:09.65, while
Andy Setser persevered to secure the 42nd spot with a time of 4:24.93.
In the Men's 400m race,
Ja'Warren Smith showcased his speed and determination, finishing in an impressive 5th place with a time of 49.98 seconds. Hot on his heels was
Elijah Hatcher, securing the 6th position with a time of 50.03 seconds.
Caleb Bafukila put forth a strong effort, finishing in 14th place with a time of 53.77 seconds.
In the Men's 800m race,
Jake Beckwith clinched the 3rd position with a time of 1:54.63.
Carmelo Corral showcased his competitive spirit, securing the 15th spot with a time of 1:58.62. Nathan Scherbarth followed closely behind, finishing in 16th place with a time of 1:59.24.
Kien Cogley put forth a commendable effort, finishing in 26th place with a time of 2:02.29, contributing to the competitive atmosphere of the race.
In the Men's 400m hurdles,
Neveh Jones delivered an impressive performance, securing the 2nd position with a time of 54.64 seconds.
Meanwhile, in the Men's 200m race,
Brandon Guzman participated, finishing in the 32nd position with a time of 24.31 seconds.
In the Men's Shot-Put event,
Donovan Capes demonstrated his strength and technique, earning the 9th position with a throw of 13.81 meters.
John Hochanadel put up a strong performance in the Men's Hammer throw, securing 7th place with a distance of 48.82m.
The Women's 3k steeplechase saw
Morgan Hykes clinch 2nd place with a time of 10:45.37, closely trailed by
Emily Schoellkopf in 3rd place with 10:45.95.
Erin Stonebarger secured 4th place, crossing the finish line in 11:16.81.
In the Women's 1500m race,
Elena Carey displayed an outstanding performance, clinching the 1st position with an impressive time of 4:23.51. Following closely behind,
Vienna Lahner claimed the 4th position with a time of 4:31.92 and
Lieke Hoogsteen finished in 5th place with a time of 4:32.99. Amalia Dorian secured the 11th position with a time of 4:41.25, while
Fiona Hawkins finished in 12th place with a time of 4:42.85.
Nicole Lawrence finished in 14th place with a time of 4:44.59.
Haley Harkrider rounded off the competition, finishing in 19th place with a time of 4:54.52.
In the Women's 100m Hurdles event, Alena Chaney delivered a strong performance, securing the 4th position with a time of 14.81 seconds.
Alese Sartain demonstrated her prowess in the Women's 400m, securing 1st place with an impressive time of 55.05.
Isila Akpup showcased her speed in both the Women's 100m and 200m events, finishing 5th in the 100m with a time of 12.00 and claiming 1st place in the 200m with a time of 24.46.
In the Women's 800m race,
Jessica Simon demonstrated remarkable skill and endurance, securing the 2nd position with a time of 2:07.65.
Stephanie Cotter delivered a strong performance as well, finishing in 4th place with a time of 2:15.60.
Lieke Hoogsteen rounded off the competition, securing the 8th position with a time of 2:16.17.
The Women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Akpup, Sartain, Miller, and Simon secured 1st place at 3:43.58.
Jada Miller emerged victorious in the Women's Long Jump, claiming 1st place with a jump of 6.02m, while Alena Chaney showcased her talent in the Women's Triple Jump, securing 3rd place with a jump of 11.18m.
The field events saw impressive performances as well, with Laura O'Campo dominating the Women's Javelin throw, claiming 1st place with a distance of 39.49m followed by Liana Fernandez in 7
th (32.38 m).
Up Next, the Grizzlies will be competing at the Jo Meaker Classic & Multi in Canyon, Texas, on April 5th and 6th at the WTAMU Track & Field Complex. Following that, they will head to the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, California, on April 11th through 13th at the Cougar Athletic Stadium.
